~ Blitzo's furious villainous breakdown when Stolas dismisses him. |
Blitzo Buckzo, better known as Blitzø (pronounced Blitz), is the titular main protagonist of the adult animated web series Helluva Boss.
He is the jerkish and mischievous leader of Immediate Murder Professionals, a demonic organization which offers Sinners a chance to take care of unfinished business by killing people on Earth. Blitzo was in a sexual relationship with the Ars Goetia prince Stolas, with them having sex in exchange for the former getting a book that would let his organization enter Earth, and is additionally the adoptive father of his receptionist Loona. He is also the archenemy of Striker.
He is voiced by series co-writer Brandon Rogers (who also voiced Loopty Goopty in the same series, as well as Bryce Tankthrust in the Brandon Rogers Cinematic Universe and Katie Killjoy in Hazbin Hotel). When he was young, he was voiced by Mason Blomberg in his first villainous role.
Biography[]
Before the beginning of the series, when Blitzo was a scrawny child, he started off working as a clown at a circus run by his father, where he would perform tricks and do as his father commanded and, eventually, also work as a clown at Loo Loo Land. Not the best of showmen, he was not only considered unpopular, but he was heavily outshined by Fizzarolli who was nonetheless a close friend. He dreamed of someday starting his own circus and turning it into a franchise. His manager was also his father, who was both greedy and strict. One day, Stolas (who was also a child at the time) was taken to the circus by his father, Paimon on his birthday, and took a liking to Blitzo. Paimon - who didn't like the hassle of raising his children personally - noticed this, and requested to buy Blitzo to be his son's playmate for the day, hoping he would keep young Stolas occupied. Blitzo's father was willing to do so for only $5 and a condom (the amount Paimon's butler had in his pockets at the time), but also ordered Blitzo to steal as much as he could from Paimon's house.
Blitzo did his best to humor Stolas while obeying his father, fooling him into helping loot the manor under the guise of playing pirates. While doing so, Blitzo became interested in the Grimoire Paimon had given Stolas, and through it, the mortal world,
Sometime after this, the circus hosted Fizzarolli's birthday party, where Fizzarolli was naturally the center of attention, with Cash even handing him a card that read "I wish you were my son". An envious and saddened Blitzo stormed away, throwing away a possibly romantic card for Fizzarolli in the process. He accidentally bumped into someone carrying the cake as he left, resulting in the candles setting the entire tent ablaze. As a result of a batch of fireworks being lit, Blitzo and Fizzarolli were horribly injured and burned, with the former's face gaining his signature white scar and the latter losing his arms, legs and horns, being forced to use his cybernetics limbs, the fire also caused the death of Blitzo's mother, Tilla. Whatever the case, it caused a schism between Blitzo and Fizzarolli that would last for fifteen years. Fizzarolli believed Blitzo had done it on purpose out of jealousy against him and fled the scene leaving him to die; in truth, Blitzo was merely panicking and fled to get help. At some point Blitzo would later return to apologize, only for somebody to tell him Fizzarolli didn't want to see him. This, however, was a lie, as they in turn never told Fizzarolli that Blitzo had come to visit. As of yet, it is not known as to who "they" are, but both seem to know who said person is.
Following that accident, Barbie and Cash left him goes their own separate ways. Blitzo was left alone despair and rehabilitation upon seeing the after the circus burned down and realizing what he's done. deciding to become an assassin instead. Blitzo himself claims (in the pilot episode), that his biggest reason for such a change was to prove to his peers and himself that he was capable of running a successful business after failing as an entertainer, despite his lowly status in the caste system of Hell. He would then date Verosika Mayday and act as her bodyguard, however, they later broke up after he left Verosika to pay for their hotel room, took her car for a joy-ride three different times, and max out her credit card for horseback riding lessons. Their relationship was said to be sexual, but Verosika states that Blitzo was selfish and didn’t reciprocate, leaving their relationship on bitter terms.
At some point before his business started, Blitzo also visited a hellhound adoption center looking to adopt a “family friendly” hound. While there, Blitzo came across Loona, an aggressive yet lonely and troubled hellhound who was a month away from turning 18 and aging out of the center. Seeing how sad and lonely Loona was, Blitzo adopted her, showering her with love and affection as his adopted daughter, despite her aggressive nature. Likely sometime before these events, Blitzo also dropped out of college.
Later on, Blitzo wound up in prison for unspecificed reasons, and shared a cell with Moxxie, who had been arrested after being left behind during a bank heist. Blitzo had a plan to get out of jail and, needing a partner to do so, offered to take Moxxie with. While it's not shown what exactly happened next, the smaller imp took him up on his proposal and in the end, agreed to work for him as an employee.
Blitzo formed the I.M.P (Immediate Murder Professionals) a full 25 years after he and Stolas first met, presumably with Moxxie and Loona's help, but quickly realized that being limited to Hell did not make such work profitable. Remembering the Grimoire, and realizing its powers, Blitzo tried to break into the manor in order to steal it and was caught by security. Stolas (now an adult and part of Hell's aristocracy) vaguely remembered Blitzo, and upon learning he was an assassin, cheekily asked if Blitzo had come to kill him. Blitzo didn't outright deny it and tried to seduce Stolas. This worked almost too well; he managed to tie Stolas up and was on the verge of escaping with the Grimoire, but felt sorry for Stolas and decided to actually sleep with him, just that once, and then stop to insult Stella (something Stolas gleefully approved of, as he hated his wife) on his way out. He has since regretted this incident, as Stolas would, from that point on, demand sexual favors from Blitzo in exchange for use of the book.
Murder Family[]
Truth Seekers[]
Blitzo and Moxxie were captured by two agents of an organization known as the D.H.O.R.K.S., which have been monitoring the activities of I.M.P. for a while, such as killing a giant monster, fighting with three angels and disturbing the peace. As they both woke up in the interrogation chamber and mock the agents, Millie and Loona storms into the D.H.O.R.K.S. building and killing the personnel inside, the agents leave Blitzo and Moxxie in the room after their obnoxious behavior, and release the truth gas in order to discover more information about demons and Hell.
Upon inhaling the gas, the two start experiencing individual hallucinations, Moxxie experiences one with involving Blitzo tormenting him for his constant worrying, while Blitzo faces his toxic and selfish personality. The two eventually woke up and were saved by Millie and Loona, the group fights the agents with the captors remaining alive.
The two agents managed to lock down the facility, but a demonic and grotesque Stolas saved I.M.P. from them. Although the group returned to safety, the agents have gathered enough information and prepared to send it to their superiors.
Personality[]
While aspirational, Blitzo proves to be rather inexperienced in running a business and is driven mostly by his huge ego and pursuit of profit. His attitude can often change very quickly, either being very jovial, optimistic and friendly with his employees. On the flip side, Blitzo can also be very rude, vulgar and grumpy when things do not go his way or if someone displeases him. He has been shown to be both impulsive and careless, picking fights with demons much stronger than he is and keeping the Grimoire (likely his most valuable possession) in a safe with the combination 1-2-3-4.
Blitzo has a strange system of questionable ethics, that can usually be tossed away on a whim. This was seen in the pilot when he and the others went to great lengths to save a child they accidentally sniped, only for Blitzo to actually be happy when it was revealed the child was their target all along (mostly because said child went on a vulgar rampage, calling Blitzo a "selfish, greedy clown"). While on the job, Blitzo has no qualms in killing seemingly innocent people whom he views are targets, as long as he and his company get paid in the end, but most humans he killed aren't that much innocent anyway.
On top of this, Blitzo also proves to be rather perverted and sexually immoral, as he created dolls of Moxxie and Millie and imagined having a threesome with them. He was also willing to have an affair with Stolas, a married man, in order to gain his grimoire book to access the living world (a decision that would end up backfiring on him). He even went as far as to threaten to rape Moxxie and Millie if the former ever screwed up on a job again, whether he was serious or not about this statement is debatable, but he certainly did appear so.
It appears that Blitzo can easily be won over with money, as he immediately agreed for him and Moxxie and Millie to serve as bodyguards for Stolas and his daughter Octavia after the former said he'd pay him, despite Blitzo's initial refusal.
Despite his bad qualities, Blitzo does prove to be genuinely caring towards Moxxie and Millie (albeit his habit of stalking them makes it appear less so), as he was enraged at Verosika Mayday when she and her employees sexually assaulted the former. He again shows this side of him when Striker almost killed Moxxie by attempting to make Blitzo force shoot him. In addition, while she herself is cold, distant, and overall mean towards him, Blitzo truly loves his adopted daughter Loona, to the point of being quite overprotective. And the one time she almost called him dad, Blitzo was overjoyed by pure delight. It's later revealed that he adopted Loona was because he saw a lot of himself in her, and the connection he had to her was so strong that he refused to give a dog to a human family while faking being Brennon Ragers on a comedy TV show.
On another separate note, Blitzo also cares about his twin sister, Barbie Wire, despite their sour relationship. He dedicated almost an entire week to finding her after realizing she was already out of rehab in an attempt to reconnect with her, but to no avail. He was visibly relieved to hear that she wasn’t back on the “H-8” drug and was merely on heroin (which is stated to be hardly effective on imps). It's also worth noting that when intervening between her and Moxxie's fight, he didn’t side with either one of them and instead simply tried to pull them apart so one wouldn't hurt the other.
In The Harvest Moon Festival, it is revealed that Blitzo is secretly insecure about himself being an imp, as no one gives him that much respect and he has to work very hard to get what he wants. While he himself (supposedly) hasn't told anybody this, Striker was able to figure it out and he frowns as he confronts him over this. Additionally, in Truth Seekers, Blitzo's hallucination reveals that he is afraid of ending up alone and that he desperately tries to prove this not to be the case by pushing others away, showing a deep internal conflict over his own personal faults, past failures as well as a fear of abandonment.
While he appears remorseless towards any of the harm he causes, Blitzo does prove to have something of a conscience. Upon meeting with Stolas again and seducing him into lowering his guard so he could take his grimoire, he did choose to spend the night with him instead of ditching Stolas and fleeing with the book, seeing just how much the prince yearned for his affection. Furthermore, pictures of the two together on Stolas' phone (where Blitzo is seen with a discontent expression) does suggest that he feels some subtle guilt over tricking and manipulating him. This is taken to the extreme in Oops, where he tearfully breaks down while apologizing to Fizzaroli over the accident that lead to them being heavily scarred, the falling out of their friendship, and the death of his mother. Blitzo also mentioned that he did make an attempt at reconciling with him beforehand, but couldn't because he was falsely told that Fizz wanted nothing to do with him, whereas the latter was never told that he came to visit.
Blitzo sees himself as a father figure more than a true boss, but also uses this position to justify not actually taking things as serious as he should and thus he is generally a bad leader, more prone to discussing if his outfit looks good than actually getting productive work done.
Blitzo has an unhealthy obsession with Moxxie and his wife, Millie, to the point where he literally stalks the pair day and night. Millie is somewhat encouraging of this behavior, but Moxxie continually calls Blitzo out for this, who in turn continues to aggravate him, although he may have changed his perspective after the events of Ghostf**kers.
After being rescued from Martha, Blitzo menacingly threatened to have sex with both Moxxie and his wife (likely not consensually) if Moxxie causes severe trouble on one of their missions again.
Blitzo is protective of Loona despite the fact Loona is almost as bad at her job as he is, claiming she's part of a family and for all intents and purposes she is his adoptive daughter.
He has a foul mouth and is often needlessly sarcastic. He doesn't seem averse to using slurs, having called Moxxie a "retard" at least once, though by the time of "Western Energy" he makes an effort not to say it. Also, according to Loona, should Blitzo tell someone to do something without using "any innuendos, euphemisms, or swear-words" it is best to do what he says because this means he is very serious.
Appearance[]
Blitzo is an imp tall and thin, if slightly hunched (perhaps due to the spikes on his upper back), who sports a harlequin-like aesthetic. He has white burn marks on his red skin, which come in various sizes and cover parts of his forearms, chest, most of the right side of his face, and on his long, demonic tail. His tail also has black spikes that reach all the way to the top of his back and head, as well as a triangular spike with a black tip. His shoulders and hands have a rather wide appearance, his mouth is filled with sharp yellow teeth on the inside, and his head is long and narrow, with a pair of rather large, curved, black-and-white striped horns, and a heart-shaped skull symbol in the center of his forehead. His eyes sport red irises, yellow sclera, slit-shaped pupils, black eyelids, and a thin black stripe across each eye. His eyes are also outlined in black, giving the appearance of thick eyeliner.
He has pointed feet with boot-like heels which, in "Exes and Oohs", are shown to have black heels and toe caps.
Blitzo wears a tattered slate-grey coat that includes a red inner lining, white lapels, and two red buttons at the waist, over a maroon-colored ruffled turtleneck sweater with a white stripe around the collar and a red skull charm hanging from his collar. He also wore black pants, elbow-length black fingerless gloves with red piping and large, light yellow rounded decorations on top, and black cowboy-type boots with red toe caps and cuffs. His boots also match the shape of his feet.
In "The Full Moon", the yellow decoration on his left glove is infused with his own Asmodean Crystal.
Other Appearances[]
Hazbin Hotel Pilot[]
Blitzo's first appearance was as a background character in the pilot episode of Hazbin Hotel, which was also made by Vivziepop. He is shown watching Charlie Morningstar's appearance on the news as part of the live in-studio recording and also ogles her when she starts singing. Moxxie and a character resembling Loona are also seen in this crowd.
Blitzo vs. Grandpa[]
Blitzo serves as the main antagonist of the video Blitzo vs. Grandpa which was made by his voice actor, Brandon Rogers. In it, he arrives at Grandpa's apartment to kill him yet is evaded every step of the way. When he has Grandpa cornered, Moxxie arrives to stop him and let him know that Grandpa isn't their target. Rather, their target is Sam (Another character played by Brandon) whom Moxxie is quick to shoot at. Before they can pursue though, the police (Portrayed by Richard Horowitz, Moxxie's voice actor, and Brandon) arrive, and it is revealed the whole scenario was just Grandpa playing with plush toys of Moxxie and Blitzo while dressed up as Blitzo. However, he also reveals Moxxie's gun to be real and shoots at the cops, prompting them to run away.
Helluva Boss WINS![]
Blitzo makes a minor appearance in Helluva Boss WINS!, another video by Brandon Rogers. Brandon drives the creator of Helluva Boss, Vivvienne Medrano, to a diner, where he throws a surprise party for her, shining a light in her face, and saying, "Hey, DJ Blitzo, hit that funky beat!" to which he replies, "Don't tell me what to do, motherfucker." He then plays an electro swing beat, which Brandon sings a song to.

Trivia[]
- While it is made clear by Blitzo that the "o" in his name is silent (often saying so while introducing himself to clients), it is revealed that this wasn't always the case, as quite a few characters such as Robo Fizz, Verosika Mayday and Wally Wackford have pronounced his name with the "o" at the end (something the imp doesn't like). It is currently unknown why he altered his name.
- As an imp, Blitzo, Moxxie and Millie are considered the lowest of Hell's residents, which may explain his desire for fame and power.
- He's a stark contrast to Charlie Morningstar, the main character of Hazbin Hotel, in terms of character. While Charlie is a well-known figure of royalty who seeks to redeem the denizens of Hell, Blitzo capitalizes on their misbehavior by helping them kill people who have wronged them in life.
- The reason why Blitzo is soft on Loona is because she's his adoptive daughter, and supports her in every way. Even though she doesn't show it and thinks it's embarrassing that Blitzo is doing fatherly stuff towards her, she still shares a strong relationship with Blitzo. The one time she almost called him 'dad', Blitzo was overjoyed by excitement.
- Blitzo's favorite animal is the horse and he is shown to love them, almost to an obsessive level.
- He has many toy horses and drawings of them.
- He maxed out Verosika Mayday's credit card on horseback riding lessons, which is one of the things that caused the two to break up.
- In "C.H.E.R.U.B" it is revealed that he had already spent Loopty's payment on a small, jewel-encrusted horse figurate labelled "Mare-ajuna".
- In "The Harvest Moon Festival" he is enamoured by Striker's horse Bombproof and is shown admiring the steed while it feasts on a dead hog.
- According to his instagram account, Blitzo's favorite movie is Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. He even recorded a low-quality video of it on his television which made it barely watchable.
- He is confirmed to be pansexual[1].
- Blitzo's Instagram account is @blitzorodeo.
- Blitzo is very bad at spelling, as shown in the I.M.P billboard in "Murder Family" and most of his Instagram posts.
