~ Blockbuster threatening Batman

Roland Desmond, also known as Blockbuster, is a minor antagonist in the 2016 video game Batman: The Telltale Series.

He is voiced by Steve Blum, who also voiced Lady Arkham (while masked) in the same series, Killer Croc and Sickle in the Arkhamverse, Vilgax, Starscream, and Reptile.

Biography[]

Episode Two: Children of Arkham[]

Blockbuster first appears at the Skyline Club with his boss, Oswald Cobblepot, and his gang to loot the now-abandoned high-rise mafia hangout following the death of Carmine Falcone. When Batman arrives, Blockbuster gets on the defensive until Oswald starts talking with Batman. Batman then ordered Oswald to release a Falcone mobster he took hostage, and Blockbuster begins threatening him until he is calmed by his boss. A moment later, he informs Oswald that Catwoman has been found by henchmen looking for her. While Cobblepot and his goons go away and Batman tries to stop him, Blockbuster blocks him and begins to confront him, Batman gives him the first punch but Blockbuster's hardened skin allows him to resist the punches of the Dark Knight. He finally puts an end to the fight with a powerful uppercut, throwing Batman through the hole in the wall, allowing Blockbuster to leave as well, though Batman grapples back up after he is gone.

During the mayoral debate at the Wayne Memorial Auditorium, the Penguin, Blockbuster, and the Children of Arkham storm the building, killing all the security and police officers stationed there, and take Mayor Hamilton Hill, District Attorney Harvey Dent, and the audience hostage. Blockbuster escorted one of their hostages, Vicki Vale, to his boss, who then makes her the moderator for the debate after killing the original. After Batman attacks Penguin, Blockbuster threw a table on Batman and approached him before attacking him. Blockbuster was fast enough that it allowed him to dodge Batman's blows and hit him. A moment of inattention for Batman allowed Blockbuster to grab him and strike him hard in the face, damaging his mask. Batman uses a Bat-Stunner to knock the brute unconscious. He was then arrested by the GCPD.

Episode Four: Guardian of Gotham[]

Blockbuster was imprisoned in Arkham Asylum following his arrest, with Batman's stunner having left him in a damaged state and is having to be watched by one of the orderlies. He is later seen watching the fight that John Doe starts by cutting Victor Zsasz, causing the latter to go on a rampage.

Episode Five: City of Light[]

Blockbuster is seen again during the riot at Arkham Asylum, although he is seen interacting with the door to his cell rather than participating.

Trivia[]

  • Unlike his comics counterpart, he has gray skin.
  • This is the first incarnation of the character to appear in a video game.
