Blocky is a major antagonist in the YouTube animated web series Battle for Dream Island.
He is voiced by the series' co-creator Michael Huang, who also voiced Four, Flower, Pencil, Puffball, Snowball, and Golf Ball.
Appearance[]
Blocky appears to be a red hardwood building block. In earlier seasons, he has red outlines, but is now purple since BFB. As with most contestants, his facial features and limbs are solid black.
Personality[]
In Battle for Dream Island, Blocky is sadistic and reckless to other contestants. He often kills and harass other contestants whenever he has the chance, such as kicking Woody, putting out Firey, and throwing Ice Cube off a cliff. These attacks are seen as pranks by him, but usually costs the expense of other contestants well-being. Blocky seems to rarely socialize outside of his friend group and hardly shows remorse for his actions.
In Battle for BFDI, Blocky is now a lot less violent towards others, but can still be pushed, such as when Golf Ball tries to manage him, which causes him to break her in half. Blocky is also shown to be more empathic, such as when he stood up for Grassy when Golf Ball mistreated him. However, Blocky still wishes he can return to his pranks, but he acknowledges his improbability of the prospect.
In Battle for B.F.B., he is reverted to his original personality, extending it to sabotaging others and causing mischief, although this doesn't end well with him as he sometimes gets an unfortunate fate, such as his company falling other hiatus for 2,763 years.
Blocky has a hard time emphasizing other contestants and dislikes how they show weakness, which leads him to look down on him to define his successes. However, he learns to respect Woody after he sees that he isn't as paranoid as he used to, along with learning that he is capable of pranking.
Blocky later develops a since of empathy when he learns Woody actually dislikes pranking and only did it to impress and befriend him. Block comforts Woody and helps him find if they can do another thing together other than pranks. When Flower begins to panic over bugs filling the tank that she was locked in, Woody helps her by getting her to breathe and calm down. Blocky praises Woody for helping Flower, using this opportunity to create a show where Woody helps contestants rather than hurting them.
Biography[]
Battle for Dream Island[]
Blocky is first seen attempting to pop Bubble using Pin and Needle. After Pin gets mad at him, Blocky later decides to kick Woody. He is then seen again talking to Eraser about how bossy Golf Ball is. Blocky was picked by Eraser and Pen to be in the Squishy Cherries due to being friends. During the second challenge, Blocky tries to plug a hole on his teams boat after it leaks, but a fish bites him and leaps in pain behind a fish monster.
His first prank is shown in "Barriers in Pitfalls", where he pops Bubble infinitely by abusing the Bubble Recovery Center
In "Are You Smarter Than a Snowball?", Blocky copies the test answers alongside Pen and Eraser. After Announcer discovered that they have cheated, Blocky and Pen's scores were set up to 0, leading to his elimination.
In "The Cycle of Life", a another prank made by Blocky, which involves Ice Cube infinitely shattering off a cliff. He, alongside the other eliminated contestants that can be voted to rejoin.
In "Insectophobes Nightmare", Blocky rejoins the game, this time on the Squashy Grapes. When the teams split into three, Snowball chooses Blocky in Leafy's team.
In "Bowling, Now with Explosions!", Blocky appears in the puppet segment alongside Pencil, Pen, Leafy, and Spongy. In the contest, Blocky knocks down 7 bowling pins. Blocky decides to subtract all of Bubble's points and subtracts 56 points from Pencil and Leafy since they subtracted his score. Blocky later loses 40 points from Firey due to being mean to Bubble.
Blocky is eliminated again in "The Reveal", but says he can't get eliminated since he is the "star of the show". A flashback of him being eliminated earlier is shown, most likely to contradict his statement. He later shows a prank after being eliminated again, which involves Firey falling into a lake repeatedly.
In "Reveal Novum", Blocky talks about escaping the Tiny Loser Chamber with the other eliminated contestants. He tries to push the TLC sideways but ends up on a lake, which causes Golf Ball to scold at him and says it's his fault. They are only saved by the sun rising before the TLC gets filled with water.
In "The Glistening", Blocky had another chance to rejoin, but failed with only 24 votes, which leads him kicking Woody out of anger.
He advertises his last prank on "Insectophobes Nightmare 2", where he kills the Announcer infinitely by using Spongy. Later in the TLC, Blocky tells everyone that he heard BFDI is cancelled.
In "Return of the Hand Glider", Blocky votes for Leafy to win as with most of the contestants. After finding out that Leafy stole Dream Island, he alongside the other contestants turned against her.
Battle For Dream Island Again[]
Blocky only appears in the first episode "Yeah, Who? I Wanna Know", where he is seen chasing Leafy alongside other contestants. Blocky failed to get enough votes to join BFDIA and he alongside the other non-contestants are sent away into the TLC.
IDFB[]
Blocky is shown briefly in the TLC, doing the pose he makes turning the first part "Take the Plunge" from the first season, as Coiny names the contestants he would like to free.
Battle for BFDI[]
Blocky is first seen using Saw to cut the pentagon into a triangle and a quadrilateral. Later he tells Pen and Eraser that they need to stick together. When Blocky overhears Grassy saying that his team will get up to a lot of funny doings, Blocky joins A Better Name than That.
When Golf Ball says the plan, she orders Blocky and Robot Flower to climb a tree. Blocky later asks Golf Ball and Tennis Ball what they are doing, and says that they are the team managers. Blocky gets angry and kills Tennis Ball. After Robot Flower knocks him off the tree, and is saved by Grassy. When Golf Ball explains that Tennis Ball built a trebuchet before he died that can help Basketball and 8-Ball launch to the basket, Blocky gets angry again and kills her.
In "Today's Very Special Episode", Blocky and everyone else on his team except for Golf Ball follows 8-Ball's orders. While 8-Ball realizes what he was doing was wrong and said being the opposite of what Golf Ball was saying was funny, most of the team, including Blocky ignores her, whom he says "disrespects people".
In "The Four is Lava", Blocky slingshots himself onto Puffball, holding on as she tries to shake him off. When Puffball manages to make him let go, Blocky lands next to Four.
In "The Escape from Four", Blocky switches to Two's show but switches back to Four when the prize changes. He, along with his thirteen opponents were transported to an unknown area to compete.
Battle for BFB[]
In "X Marks the Spot", after agreeing with Woody to never help Four and X again, he kicks him into the air. He is later placed into the "X Colored Team, which would eventually be known as the Have Nots.
In "Take the Tower", Blocky writes down new material for his pranks after observing Firey die falling into a puddle of water that came out of by Spongy. During the challenge, Taco asks Blocky to help her pick up rocks, which he pathetically throws, and blames the weight of the rock and then helps her push rocks of a cliff. Blocky later declares that Woody should be the first to cross on Loser's bridge, which Woody disagrees but is pushed away.
In "Let's Raid the Warehouse", Blocky tells his team to raise their hands if they want to receive gifts and ignores Woody when he does so. Taco confronts him and says that he shouldn't make fun of Woody. When choosing gifts, Blocky picks a spiky glove to hit Woody with. Taco angrily turns down this idea and tells him to take the challenge seriously. Choosing glitter for Flower gives his team a stratification rate of 10/10. An empty box for Woody is the opposite however, giving the team 0/10.
In "The Game has Changed", Blocky gets eliminated when he is informed by Flower. Woody hugs Blocky, saddened by his elimination. Blocky later tells Woody that it'll be okay, and pull some pranks to him while he is gone. Blocky's last words were for Woody to make him proud. In the stinger, Blocky shows Woody's prank that involves destroying the Ferris wheel made by Firey for him and Leafy. Blocky commented and said it was "pretty legit".
In "Save Our Show", Blocky shows a prank which involves tying X over a cliff and having Gelatin burnt to death. Blocky tells Woody when to push him to Firey, but Woody runs away, much to Blocky's confusion. He later asks if Woody is okay and figures out Woody is not into pranks. Blocky reassures him that he doesn't need to pretend to be something and says that they can find something else to do together. After Woody helps Flower stay calm while being trapped in a tank of bugs, Blocky gets the idea of "Woody's Fear Destroyer International", where Woody can help people take care of their fears.
In "Chapter Complete", Blocky votes himself to win during Cake at Stake. The Announcer reminds him that he is not one of the possible choices and why he picked himself, which leads to Blocky awkwardly trying to explain. Blocky pretends to vote for Gelatin, and whispers to Announcer that he wants Flower to win instead, which leads to the Announcer saying it out loud, much to his annoyance. Blocky is last seen with Woody inviting Flower and Gelatin as guests to their show.
Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two[]
Blocky is mentioned by Pen and Eraser when Pen is finally happy that he is on the same team as Eraser and later asks were Blocky is. Eraser sadly says he left them, to Pen's confusion. Fries then clarifies that he meant that Blocky left to stay with Four.
Trivia[]
- Blocky was originally supposed to rejoin in "Puzzling Mysteries", but this was dropped.
- Blocky is the only season 1 rejoiner to rejoin before the merge.
- Out of the 20 original contestants, Blocky is the only one to only compete twice, as he failed to join BFDIA, was in the TLC in IDFB, and didn't switch to TPOT.
- Blocky currently holds the record for the lowest number of save votes for a single Cake at Stake, at 4,054.
- Blocky was the second contestant to request to be sent away after learning they were eliminated, with the first being Balloony and the third being Lollipop.
- Blocky used to be known as Building Block in earlier drawings that were mostly unseen.
- Blocky has the highest kill count out of any contestant, having over 2,930+ kills.
