The Blood Wheel Clan are a ninja clan from Edo period Japan who seek to use the technique of the Henshin Ninja Scroll to become the dominant clan in Japan.
The father of Hayate, Kiju of the Valley, was once a member of the clan until they began using the "Henshin Ninja Jutsu" he designed to terrorize villages in their quest to conquer Japan, leading Kiju to perform the process on Hayate so he could become the Henshin Ninja Arashi to defend people from them.
History[]
Among the members of the clan was a sage known as Kiju of the Valley, who was the one who first discovered the art of Ninja transformation and recorded it in a scroll. Through the Henshin Ninja technique Kiju had devised, the higher members of the Blood Wheel Clan were able to gain great power by assuming monstrous forms and, in contrast to the peaceful intentions Kiju had created the scroll for, began using their powers to spread fear and terror all throughout Japan, raiding villages and massacring civilians. After the Blood Wheel Clan killed a group of innocent civilians just to test the power of their Monster Ninja Poison Moray Eel, Kiju converted his own son Hayate into Henshin Ninja Arashi so he could fight to defend people from them. After Arashi helped some civilians escape from Poison Moray Eel, the Blood Wheel Clan discovered that Kiju was making Henshin Ninjas behind their back and killed him and stole the scroll, leading Hayate to vow vengeance upon them.
The Blood Wheel Clan later hatched a scheme to have the Monster Ninja Mashira abduct civilians so they could be made slaves and forced to build a new base for the Blood Wheel Clan. Hayate and Tatsumaki's family soon went to investigate and discovered what Mashira was doing. In a skirmish with the Blood Wheel Clan, Tatsumaki and Tsumuji are captured and brought to a cell in one of the Blood Wheel Clan's Skull Lairs.
However, an interesting twist occurred when all of the people abducted by the Blood Wheel Clan suddenly reappeared. It would later turn out that Mashira did this to pose as one of his kidnapped victims in an attempt to get Hayate to lower his guard so he could kill him by feeding him poisoned tea. Kasumi discovered Mashira's disguise when they found the dead body of Mashira's kidnapped victim floating down the water, but was kidnapped by the Blood Wheel Clan before she could tell Hayate. However, Hayate still saw through Mashira's disguise thanks to his magic sword and was able to defeat him and free Tatsumaki and his children.
