“ | Superman: Call this off! Now! Bloodsport: I told you, I'm not Waller or the General. I don't react emotionally. I get the measure of my enemy... and then I use the tools at hand to eradicate them. I've measured your top speed. The array will match it. Targeting you and the robot, no matter where you are. YOU CANNOT ESCAPE! Superman: Innocent people are going to die! Please, this is a mistake- Bloodsport: Was the atom bomb a mistake? Or was it the tool that ended the war, saving millions in the process? If these deaths stop you and your machine... then I have prevented a war! A war that would kill millions-- billions! Ending only when your robot finishes destroying my planet! Don't you see, Nemesis Omega? I AM SAVING US ALL! |

~ Bloodsport's insane motivation to activating the Project Orion array cannon in a last-ditch effort to "save humanity". |
Robert DuBois, also known as Bloodsport, is the main antagonist of the 2024 tie-in comics, My Adventures with Superman. He was the leader of Team Seven, working under the governmental organization Checkmate, and at some extent, a specialized member in Task Force X. Bloodsport was assigned to retrieving the second Parasite, Amazo, and came across going up against Superman himself.
Personality[]
“ | Bloodsport: Superman. Let's get something straight. I'm not The General or Waller. I don't mindlessly react. I analyze the situation, draw my own conclusions. Superman: What did you conclude? Bloodsport: You're a weapon with no direction. Until now, that made you an annoyance. Now... you're a threat. Superman: And what does torturing someone make you? Experimenting on them as they beg you to stop?! Bloodsport: If it was a person, I'd be appalled. But it's not. It's your people's technology, Superman. No more alive than a computer. If you want to point fingers... tell me, what sort of people make a computer that can feel pain? But maybe aliens don't think like us. Superman: What are you-- Bloodsport: There's a threat to humanity on this bridge. A robot, a weapon, made of alien tech. |

~ Bloodsport expressing his xenophobic views against Superman and Amazo, as well as describing his entire persona and intellect. |
Bloodsport is a well-dedicated and egocentric person who strives to retrieve back Amazo or whatever he's been tasked on carrying out in the long run without backing down. He comes across being determined to ensuring the safety of the people of Metropolis and to some extent, the world in general, from alien threats or weaponry affiliated with them. For all his dedication of duty, Bloodsport tends to have quite a massive ego of being one step ahead of Task Force X and constantly antagonizing Slade, promptly believing himself having the markings of being a "world hero" in his eyes. Despite this, Bloodsport is callous and apathetic enough to scoff off the fact that he is willingly to openly endanger public crowds and nearby civilians in the midst of battle, especially through how reckless his actions get.
He also has a xenophobic view on androids having sapient, believing them to only merely existing as weapons of destruction and repetitively refuses to acknowledge any sort of willingness or sapience Amazo could ever withhold, deeming him a machine that only knows how to destroy than protect. While claiming to have the best intentions of ensuring global safety and Metropolis', Bloodsport comes off being a hypocrite due to endangering the public in his hunt to catch Amazo and willingly using the engineered weapon of Project Orion to wipe out not only Superman and Amazo, but risked all populated sectors of Metropolis, despite himself being against the use of weapons built on mass destruction as claimed earlier. From everything he's done up to this point, Bloodsport has proven to be utterly narcissistic in his desperate attempts to glorify himself a hero to the eyes of the world if it meant ending the "threats" he's fighting against, when he ended up becoming the very thing he was supposed to be fighting in the end.
Biography[]
There isn't much on his background, however, DuBois joined Task Force X's special division, Team Seven, under the jurisdiction of Checkmate as its leader at some point upon being promoted. Bloodsport would get into conflict with Slade Wilson at some point and was tasked with retrieving back research material and data encased in the old laboratories of Dr. Anthony Ivo, soon discovering Amazo, an Kryptonian android built to terraform planets and garner energy under orders of Nemesis Omega. Upon taking custody of the robot, Bloodsport would oversee Amazo being horribly experimented for a rather long time, kept in a stasis pod prior to its desperate escape from Checkmate's stronghold.
Taking notice of Amazo's escape, Bloodsport and Team Seven were dispatched to retrieve back Amazo just in the middle of the android fighting Superman out in the public. With Amazo distracted for a second and begging Superman for help, Bloodsport has the android neutralized in mid-air and orders Superman to stand down, insisting it's none of his concern. When Superman commented about Amazo's sapience and pleas for help, Bloodsport dismisses these claims, retorting that Amazo is merely a "robot mech-suit prototype" with no sentience or speech program as his men took Amazo aboard. He is met with criticism that being in the military does not absolve him of the public's safety due to letting a "weapon" like Amazo out loose, Bloodsport reassures Superman that all else of Metropolis, and to a major extent, America, is in "good hands" before taking Amazo back to headquarters at Mt. Simonson Base.
With Clark, Lois, and Jimmy infiltrating the base later on, Bloodsport is seen confronting Slade, the latter which taunted him about his recent promotion in leading Checkmate's division and tells him to "enjoy" it, retorting back as Bloodsport brags how he'll guard America from the shadows and watch Slade squirm on the day he'll take over Task Force X's operations and base. With Slade escorted out of the premise, Amazo is once again tortured via electrocution feedback of the Cadmus Red Sun Field into his circuitry and forcibly have his vocal processor shut tight during the procedure, which later Slade's sabotage of Team Seven having their base blown up is soon discovered by Bloodsport during the explosion, surprised over the fact that Waller tried sabotaging his base with brute force and engages in combat with Slade. Blasting down Slade, he spots Amazo freed and Clark present, with the former retreating for the meantime. Through the command of White Pawn Override installed in Amazo's system, he demands the android to kill both Superman and Slade despite his pleading his wish not to hurt anyone.
Once Clark got Lois and Jimmy to safety, he restrains Amazo and tries to get him to fight back the drive program installed into him, which Clark gets electrocuted but encouraged him that he is stronger than he looks. As Bloodsport orders him to kill Clark, Amazo refuses for the final time and makes his escape, only leaving Clark to be caught red-handed at Bloodsport and Team Seven's jurisdiction, placing him in military custody. Interrogating Clark at Stryker's Island Penitentiary, he sums up a thesis of coincidental encounters between Clark's presence and Superman's whenever the former isn't around, making Clark nervous into thinking Bloodsport's figured out his identity. Instead, Bloodsport deduced that Clark's actions are simply done in a desperate attempt to get into Superman's good graces and get an interview with him, much to the latter finding this turn hilarious, though given spare time in his cell. With Clark, Lois, and Jimmy planning to take Amazo to Cadmus for safety, Bloodsport enters Clark's cell (unaware of him escaping and heading back in under mere minutes) and informs him of his release, but through his telepathy, Bloodsport orders Clark to be under tight observation from afar and having his squad units secure the Metropolis Bay Bridge, believing Amazo was tracked there.
Securing all perimeters at the Metropolis Bay Bridge for Amazo, Bloodsports makes his arrival and asks one of his men if Clark made any moves, only to report he's lecturing a co-worker about baking pie. Deciding that keeping Clark in check is a waste of time and believing he acted out on a misguided "moral code", he orders all units to begin searching further while preparing his Angel Array armor set, getting ready for Superman's arrival and retrieving back Amazo. As Clark switches into his Superman persona, Bloodsport makes a statement clear to the former that he isn't like Waller or General Lane, that he doesn't "mindlessly react" but analyze the situation and draw his own conclusions, then deeming Superman a "threat" and that he is a weapon with "no direction". When questioned of his actions against Amazo and his experiments on him, Bloodsport justifies that he would be appalled if he was doing such things to an actual person, scoffing the idea of android computer having feel pain.
Deeming Superman worth disposing, he has his men open fire carelessly with Superman calling out that there are still civilians present. Bloodsport continues attacking regardless of innocent people present and prepares to blast out a powerful beam directed at him, only then would Amazo lose it and begins charging up his abilities. Arguing and fighting at the same time with Superman, the bridge begins collapsing with Lois, Jimmy, and Clark's parents, Jonathan and Martha, nearly falling off the center from their vehicle until Superman lifting the bridge up and Bloodsport being informed of Amazo's presence inside a van, blasting right through, only to realize he escaped with Clark's family and friends. Furious, he orders his units to search every inch of Metropolis for Amazo. He's later seen berated by Checkmate's higher-ups regarding the matters involving Amazo and his failure to capture him, he's given 24 hours to find the android or he'll face repercussions should he fail again.
With Waller sending Slade to go after Superman, Amazo, and the rest in Cadmus, Bloodsport follows pursuit against the former, fully armored and powered up through Angel Array, launching a powerful blast at Slade when taunting him, destroying several OMACs. Insisting to Slade that with Dr. Killgrave keeping sight on Amazo, Bloodsport admits on making it clear that believing Slade is Waller's support pillar and with gone, she'll crumble apart as he begins launching another powerful blast at Slade. When Slade was protected by Amazo, the android confronts Bloodsport for conducting violence on a holiday like Christmas, much to his confusion before blasting the android in mid-battle either way. As Superman joins in, Bloodsport gets even more furious and prepares on reloading his armor's blasters, only for Slade to blast right through Amazo as he self-destructs from the feedback, to which Bloodsport dispatches Team Seven to locate his exact coordinates in the area.
While doing so, he orders them to bring out Project Orion for deployment, regardless if Checkmate hasn't authorized permission for the former to use. Within the holographic memories of Amazo, Bloodsport is seen trying to blast the android on sight, only for Superman to block his shot, angrily retorting to the kryptonian that Amazo isn't human. Shown before them another memory of Amazo, one where it reveals his purpose as an android and his abilities, while outside Team Seven prepares to deploy Project Orion, Bloodsport begins ranting again about him and that they're only alive is because of Slade blasting a new one on him. Superman dissuades Bloodsport's rant and states to Amazo not to listen to anything he's saying, entrusting him to do what he wants to do. As the memories continue to flourish further into light, Amazo comes to realize the truth about his creation and his makers' purpose for him; to gather and absorb energy to warp and kill off planets in the past.
As Bloodsport points out the true intentions of Nemesis Omega's use for the androids and that is merely a "gun", Superman says otherwise and that Amazo isn't a "gun" to fight his wars, but he has every choice to make and his on that end matter more. While Amazo was on the verge of breaking down, Bloodsport orders Agent Cash to deploy Project Orion where he stands, the weapon in question revealed to be a space cannon - the same one from Amazo's memories - to begin charging up and activation. Superman calls him out that using such a weapon they've witnessed could only risk destroying Metropolis, only for Bloodsport to have deaf on all ears, insisting that this is the only choice to end his "threat" for good and that he alone will be glorified as the hero Earth deserves, not Waller or Task Force X who'll gain credit for his work on taking out "Nemesis Omega" - referring to Superman - and ending everything at once.
When Superman pleads to him to call off the weapon's activation, Bloodsport refuses, repeating once more than he is not like Waller or General Lane, boasting how he doesn't react emotionally and how he carefully took great measures in handling his enemies. Superman still argued that innocent people are going to die because of this, though Bloodsport responds if the atomic bomb was a mistake but rather a tool that saved millions of lives that ended a war, further concluding that Superman and Amazo's deaths, accompanied with risking millions of Metropolis, would mean preventing a war that would've risked the entire globe's population. Instantly believing he's saving humanity through these risks, Superman tries to push aside the charging array cannon into space but didn't have enough willpower to prolong. Instead, Amazo blocks the charged-up blast and begins lifting it onto the atmosphere of space, leaving only Bloodsport to mock his sacrifice as Amazo absorbs the blast and begins self-destruction. However, Superman was able to recover his memory unit and connects him to his spaceship where he can take time to learn more about humans.
Bloodsport, meanwhile, is last seen arrested and escorted by Waller for his crimes and reckless misconduct of deploying Project Orion without Checkmate's permission.
