Robert "Bobby" Monday is the main antagonist in the film, Premium Rush.
He is a compulsive gambling addict and a corrupt police detective. He seeks to steal Nima's ticket for Mr. Lin, a loan shark to clear his debt.
He was portrayed by Michael Shannon who also plays Zod in Man of Steel, Frankie Lombardo in Kangaroo Jack, Richard Kuklinski in The Iceman, White Death in Bullet Train, Rick Carver in 99 Homes, Colonel Richard Strickland in The Shape of Water and Captain Beatty in the 2018 Fahrenheit 451 remake.
Biography[]
In the film, Robert "Bobby" Monday is a compulsive gambling addict and a corrupt police detective. He is in trouble with a loan shark named Mr. Lin and various Chinese and Russian mafias. He gets in trouble for not paying his debts due to him gambling his money away. Mr. Lin then gives him a chance to clear his debt by stealing Nima's ticket that would help Nima's mother and unnamed son come to the United States illegally.
Monday tries to disguise himself as a school official to get the ticket from Wilee, a bicycle messenger but fails. It is not until Wilee realizes the true nature of Nima's delivery, Wilee and his girlfriend, Vanessa who is also a bicycle messenger helps set things right. Wilee was injured and Bobby accompanies him on an ambulance truck to get the location of where Nima's ticket is. Wilee lies that the ticket was with Manny, another bicycle messenger.
Wilee, Vanessa, and Nima works together to stop Monday. Nima calls Mr. Leung, a Chinese hawaladar whom she visited earlier in the film to get the ticket. Mr. Leung then sends his enforcer, the Sudoku Man to kill Monday. Vanessa goes to her boss and asks him for a flash mob to stall Monday after she and Wilee escapes from the police impound lot. The flash mob that Vanessa calls for is able to stall enough time for Wilee to deliver Nima's ticket. After the flash mob disperses, The Sudoku Man kills Monday with a pistol silenced using his Sudoku book. Monday dies before he can get to his car.
