Biography[]
Sailor Ripley and his girlfriend Lula Fortune, on the run from contract killers hired by Lula's mother Marietta, meet Peru in Big Tuna, Texas and agree to help him rob a feed store for some much-needed cash. Lula is immediately put off by Peru's coarse manners and (literally) foul mouth full of yellow, rotting teeth, as well as his aggressive sexual innuendoes, which remind her of the man who raped her when she was a child.
The morning of the robbery, Peru intrudes on Lula, who has just found out she is pregnant with Sailor's child. He once again propositions her, and turns violent when she turns him down, grabbing her by the throat and forcing her to say that she will have sex with him whether she wants to or not. Once she submits, however, Peru abruptly loses interest in her, as he says that he is too busy and leaves her on the floor, sobbing.
During the robbery, Peru loses control and unnecessarily kills two employees. Peru then tells Sailor that he is going to kill him, having been paid to do so by Mariett, as the robbery was merely a ruse to get Sailor close enough to kill him. Just as Peru is about to kill Sailor, however, a sheriff's deputy arrives and shoots Peru in the chest. Declaring that he will not go back to prison, Peru commits suicide by shooting himself in the head with his own gun.
Trivia[]
