Robert Lee "Bobby" Shy is one of the main antagonists of the thriller 52 Pick-Up.
He was portrayed by Clarence Williams III, who also played Mr. Simms in Tales from the Hood.
History[]
As a teenager, Bobby murdered his step-uncle for unknown reasons. As a result, he was sent to juvie and subsequently prison. Upon being released, he befriended amateur porn director Alan Raimy and pimp Leo Franks. As well, Bobby started a relationship with one of Leo's prostitutes, Doreen.
Raimy eventually hatched a blackmail scheme against wealthy construction magnate Harry Mitchell, who had an affair with prostitute Cynthia "Cini" Frazier. Bobby helped Alan and Leo kidnap Harry and make the initial demand for money. When Harry refused to pay, Alan murdered Cini with Harry's gun while recording it. Bobby helped kidnap Harry again, and forced him to watch the entire tape.
When Harry figured out Leo and Alan's identities, Alan requested Bobby to find out if Doreen had ratted on them to Harry. Bobby complied, torturing Doreen by suffocating her until she admitted she hadn't told him anything of use. Sometime after, Bobby was assigned by Alan to kill Harry within a week, who Raimy claimed couldn't pay.
Bobby attacked Harry that night instead and was subdued by Mitchell. Harry revealed to Bobby that Alan had lied to him and that he intended to pay them $52,000 to split. Letting Bobby go, Bobby attacked Alan and threatened to shoot him unless he told him the truth. Alan admitted he had tried to con him, but promised to keep him involved. Alan asked him to kill Leo so they wouldn't have to split it further, something Bobby agreed to.
Bobby arrived at Leo's nude model salon and murdered both him and his boyfriend. He fled the scene, and later met Alan at a warehouse alongside Doreen. Alan, still unwilling to share the money, pulled out his gun and shot an unsuspecting Bobby dead.
