Bodhi Irenicus is a chaotic evil vampire and a major villain in the videogame Baldur's Gate 2: Shadow of Amn. She is the sister and right-hand woman of Jon Irenicus, the main villain of the game.
Biography[]
Like her brother Jon, Bodhi was exiled from the elven domain of Suldanessar after being stripped of her longevity for aiding her brother in a attempt of draining the energy of the Tree of Life and ascend to godhood, To keep her elven beauty and longevity, Bodhi chose to become a vampire. Jon and Bodhi later planned to steal the divine essence of the god Bhaal from his children and get their revenge on Suldanessar and its people.
Bodhi moved with her brother in their headquarters under the city of Athkatla. Bodhi founded her own thieves guild in the cemetery district of the city, where she sired many vampire underlings, and started a war against the guild of the Shadow Thieves.
The Irenicus siblings were able to kidnap two children of Bhaal: Gorion's Ward and his sister Imoen, along with their adventuring companions, and trapped them in their dungeon in Athkatla, When Irenicus' dungeon was assaulted by the Shadow Thieves, Gorion's Ward and Imoen gained an opportunity to escape from their cells. Upon reaching the city proper, both Irenicus and Imoen were arrested by the Cowled Wizards for unsanctioned use of magic, and taken to the asylum of Spellhold.
Bodhi contacted Gorion's Ward's party and tried to persuade them into helping her fight against the Shadow Thieves, and manipulated the heroes into sailing to the asylum of Spellhold, after Irenicus killed the Cowled Wizards and took control of the facility.
When Bodhi arrived at Spellhold, Jon Irenicus removed the divine spirit from Imoen and gave it to her sister, empowering her. Later they capture Gorion's Ward and Jon steals his divine spirit for himself.
Gorion's Ward and his companions escaped into the underground labyrinths of Spellhold, and Bodhi starts stalking them for her amusement, planning to eventually kill them when she had enough fun. But before she could fight the heroes head on, Gorion's Ward transforms into a monster called the Slayer, which scares Bodhi into running away.
After Gorion's Ward returned to Athkatla, Bodhi and her vampire minions kidnapped Gorion's Ward's love interest (Aerie, Viconia, Jaheira or Neera, depending on player choice). Gorion's Ward and his companions stormed the vampire's guild with the help of the Shadow Thieves and, after a final fight, the heroes drove a stake into Bodhi's body in her coffin, killing her for good.
Personality[]
Bodhi was cruel, sadistic, manipulative and always in search of thrills, including stalking and playing with her prey before feeding on them. Like her brother she was power hungry and fascinated by beings with great potential.
She hated her former elf kinsmen in Suldanessar, but unlike Jon Irenicus, she wasn't emotionless and with a single minded goal of destroying her former home and become a god. Jon disliked her for indulging herself with pointless violence and bloodshed instead of focusing on their revenge.
