Description[]
Appearance[]
Although larger than usual, the Bomber Bill's appearance is exactly the same as a Banzai Bill; a large Bullet Bill with angry eyes and a mouth with painted sharp teeth in the detail.
Personality[]
The Bomber Bill is fiercely loyal to its commanders, willing to destroy an enemy country at the cost of its own life. However, it is also vengeful and will drop any mission to go after any person who wronged it, such as Mario when the plumber smacked one of its eyes with a Tanooki tail. When open its eye, it appears to have a lock-on targeting system of sorts, as it would not stop pursuing Mario until he did a barrel-roll, and was quite surprised when it was tricked into getting sucked into a warp pipe. Despite following Bowser's orders, the Bomber Bill abandoned them when it decided to chase Mario for hitting it in the eye, showing that he may not be completely loyal to him.
History[]
At some point in the past, the Bomber Bill was created by Bowser's Army, likely as a contingency plan in case the initial plan to conquer the Mushroom Kingdom did not succeed.
Bowser planned to forcibly marry Princess Peach, but during their wedding, Peach ambushed him instead by using an Ice Flower to freeze him solid. While still encased in ice, he saw that Peach's ally, Mario had survived Bowser's earlier attempt on his life. Utterly enraged and jealous by the sight of them embracing each other, Bowser freed his head from the ice using his fire breath as his eyes turned red and then furiously demanded to launch the Bomber Bill weapon and destroy the Mushroom Kingdom out of petty spite. At that moment, the Bomber Bill launched itself out of the volcano on Bowser's castle ship and straight towards Peach's castle. Peach feared for her kingdom and its people, but Mario, using a Tanooki suit, quickly flew up to the Bomber Bill and attempted to stop it. After initially failing to stop the Bomber Bill, he decided to hit directly the Bill's eye with his suit's tail, causing it to stop just when it had bent the castle's flag.
Though Mario managed to save the Kingdom from destruction, the Bomber Bill then opened its eyes towards the one who struck it. It realigned its body in Mario's direction with a furious glare, making the plumber its new target. Sensing its intentions, Mario quickly began to fly away while the Bomber Bill gave chase. The plumber flew away from the castle and into the forest, but still could not shake off its pursuer. Mario then saw the Warp Pipe that he used to come into the Mushroom Kingdom in the first place, and got an idea. After luring the Bomber Bill towards the Warp pipe, he does a loop at the last second, causing it to get sucked into the Warp Pipe.
Upon entering the space between dimensions, the Bomber Bill then violently explodes, creating a powerful explosion that causes Mario and several others, including Bowser's entire ship, to get sucked through and enter Brooklyn, where the real final battle would take place.
Trivia[]
- The scene where the Bomber Bill glares at Mario after being hit in the eye by him became rather infamous among audiences, as many thought it was an inanimate object up until that point.
- Bomber Bill dropping on the Mushroom Kingdom Castle might be a nod to the "Princess Peach's Castle" stage in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The stage in question having a Banzai Bill as a stage hazard that occasionally drops on the rooftop, causing a massive explosion.
- The Bomber Bill shows both Anger while chasing Mario, and fear when being sucked into the Warp Pipe. The Super Mario Bros Movie is the second time where Banzai Bills are shown to feature different emotions.
