The history of the vengeful animatronic called Bonnie the Bunny from the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise.
NOTE: This is in the order of the timeline. It is worth to note that because the timeline is still unknown, many things here aren't confirmed.
In the lore[]
Background[]
Bonnie the Rabbit was created in 1983, as the guitar player of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. However, on June 26th, 1985, William Afton, the co-owner of the pizzeria, disguised as Spring Bonnie, lured five children named Gabriel, Jeremy, Susie, Fritz and Cassidy into the back room of the restaurant where he murdered them and hid their bloodied corpses inside the animatronics, including Bonnie. The Puppet, who was already possessed, gave life to the children, making the animatronics possessed. Eventually, parents were asking about blood and mucus oozing from their eyes and mouths; and deemed the animatronics too creepy and smelly. This and the fact that five children went missing caused the restaurant to close down.
The Second Pizzeria[]
In 1987, the 'new and improved' Freddy Fazbear's Pizza was opened, starring new versions of Freddy and his friends, including Bonnie, now known as Withered Bonnie, who was replaced by Toy Bonnie. The old ones (including Bonnie) were kept for parts, and would come to life at night. William Afton came back, killed five children, and escaped, causing the new animatronics to also be possessed. Every night they attacked the night guards, hoping one of them would be the man that destroyed their lives. (One of them was Jeremy Fitzgerald, the player character of Five Nights at Freddy's 2)
Weeks later, the pizzeria was closed down. Toy Bonnie and the rest of the new models were ultimately scrapped.
The Third Pizzeria[]
In 1993, there was another pizzeria of the same name, this time only using the original animatronics (with modifications to their designs to improve upon the original scary appearances). They still attacked the night guards, just as before, and their behavior continued until the pizzeria closed for good after its popularity reached an all-time low.
A few months later, William Afton and Shadow Freddy returned to Freddy's, and destroyed the animatronics, for unknown reasons. They released the spirits of the first five children Afton murdered, who converged on him in the pizzeria's Safe Room. In terror, he hid in the same Spring Bonnie suit he had worn decades earlier. Despite thinking he was safe, the suit's age caused it to malfunction, killing William Afton ten years after he murdered the children. Jeremy and the other kids stayed in the bodies for unknown reasons.
Fazbear's Fright and death[]
Thirty years later, in 2023, a horror attraction opened, titled Fazbear's Fright: The Horror Attraction. The remains of Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy are brought to the horror attraction, alongside the remains of the Toy animatronics, including Toy Bonnie. William's corpse is also brought, but William possessed the body and became Springtrap. The Puppet and Shadow Freddy eventually came to the location, still alive. Mere days before the attraction was set to be opened, it caught on fire. Bonnie the Bunny was destroyed once and for all, while Jeremy was set free and went to the afterlife.
Legacy[]
Years after Bonnie was killed, Fazbear Entertainment made a VR game that is set to make all the events from the past few decades look like a joke. Bonnie is included, but he isn't possessed due to being a literal video-game character. However, a virus looking like Spring Bonnie, the original version of Bonnie, appears.
Some time after that, Fazbear Entertainment makes the Fazbear Funtime Service that allows people to send animatronics to their house. However, because of a virus, they instead are aggressive. Bonnie is a part of the Service, but he isn't possessed due to being a literal clone (or clones, as every animatronics is made hundreds of times). On Easter, he gets two skins named Chocolate Bonnie and Easter Bonnie.
Meanwhile, the company began to make a mall. It is seemingly the first time that Bonnie isn't in a location, most likely due to controversies surrounding the character.
In the games[]
Five Nights at Freddy's[]
Bonnie once again appears in the game, starting from the Show Stage, then going to the Dining Area, the East Hallway, and then to the office, with the doors being the only way he could be stopped. He sometimes goes to Parts/Service and the Closet.
Five Nights at Freddy's 2[]
The original version of Bonnie appears in the second game, as a dangerous animatronic, with an even more frightening appearance (he completely misses his face).
Bonnie starts with the rest of the older animatronics in the Parts/Service Room. He seems to travel to the Main Hall and then heads to the room just outside the Security Office, staring at the player just from the outside. Afterwards, he then travels to the Left Air Vent to get into the Office and attack, though can be warded off with the Freddy Fazbear Head.
Five Nights at Freddy's 3[]
Bonnie appears in the mini-game cut scenes where he along with the other animatronics are disabled by William Afton. Later the soul of the child that possessed Bonnie appears along with the other dead child souls and confronts the Killer cause him to run into the Spring Bonnie suit which kills him. In the gameplay he is nothing more than a lamp in one of the rooms.
Five Nights at Freddy's 4[]
- Main article: Nightmare Bonnie
A nightmarish version of Bonnie called Nightmare Bonnie appears haunting the protagonist. Bonnie himself is nothing more than a plushie seen in the minigames.
Five Nights at Freddy's Sister Location[]
In Sister Location, the fifth game in the franchise, Bonnie appears as an antagonist's minion, the hand puppet called Bon Bon on Funtime Freddy's left hand.
Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted[]
Bonnie returns in Five Night's at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted as an enemy in the game mode based off of FNaF 1 as well as in his own variation of the parts and service game. In the Five Nights at Freddy's game mode, Bonnie behaves just like he did in Five Nights at Freddy's, where he will approach the office from the left side and the player must close the left door to prevent him from entering the office. In his Parts and Service game mode, the player must remove both of his eyes and place them in cleaning receptacles on the right side of the player. They must then press the two buttons on both sides of Bonnie's face to open his head to reach his secondary throat pipe. The button on Bonnie's throat pipe will flash colors reflecting the notes on the guitar. The player must listen to the notes played and identify which note is incorrect, tune it back in sync with the other notes, and close up Bonnie's face to conclude the game.
In a update, Withered Bonnie (along with the rest of the Withered animatronics) are added into the FNaF 2 gamemode, which, as the name implies, is based off Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery[]
Bonnie appears in the AR game Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery as one as the animatronics the player can encounter and send after other players. To defeat Bonnie, the player has to locate him by detecting the static and listen to his movement and noises. When he charges at them, the player must shock him when he is visible. The player must also look away when he is in the "Haywire Mode", where he stands right in front of the player and twitches fitfully. It is also possible to obtain his plush suit and his CPU upon defeating him.
Across April 2020, two skins for Bonnie were added. The first one is Chocolate Bonnie (added on April 10th), who acts more aggressively. The second one is Easter Bonnie (added on April 16th), who is around the same aggressiveness as his original counterpart.
During the year of 2021, Bonnie gained two skins this far. On Feb 4th, 2021, a new skin for Bonnie, Black Heart Bonnie, was released in accordance to the Valentine's Day event, and on April 1st, he gained the Melted Chocolate Bonnie skin.
Spin-offs[]
FNAF World[]
In this RPG spin-off Bonnie appears in all of his FNaF 1-4 incarnations as playable characters.
Ultimate Custom Night[]
Both Bonnie's classic and withered forms appear in the Ultimate Custom Night.
Classic Bonnie and Foxy both reside in Pirate's Cove, but take turns peeking out from the curtain. The player can tell who is active by looking at a figurine in their office. If the figure is of Bonnie, the player must not check Pirate's Cove on the camera, or else Bonnie will disable it.
Withered Bonnie, like in the second game, occasionally sneaks into the office via an unseen trapdoor. Once he is in, he will create distorted noises and cause the lights to flicker. To ward Withered Bonnie off, the player must quickly don the Freddy mask, or Withered Bonnie will kill them.
Freddy in Space 2[]
Bonnie reappears in the spin-off as a unlockable character, being the last of the original four to unlock.

Behavior[]
Five Nights at Freddy's[]
Bonnie is the most active enemy in the game and is usually the first to move, slowly making his way to the player's office (teleporting instantly on later nights) and will always appear in the left doorway.
The player can lock him out. Otherwise, Bonnie will simply stand there until the player checks the camera or the power runs out. If they check the camera, Bonnie will be triggered into attacking.
However, with enough power left you can keep checking the monitor until 6 AM and Bonnie will be stalled. If the power runs out, Freddy will attack instead.
An easy way to check if Bonnie is behind the closed door, is to turn the light on and faintly expose his shadow from the window.
Five Nights at Freddy's 2[]
Bonnie is a minor antagonist in the second game. To prevent him from killing the night guard, the player must put on his head the Freddy's mask whenever he comes into the office.
Unlike the first game, Bonnie rarely attacks, hardly ever rushing to the office in the first night. He can still pose a threat if not handled properly, especially in the late nights.
Ultimate Custom Night[]
Sharing the Pirate Cove with Foxy, the original Bonnie is arguably the easiest enemy to defeat. He and Foxy switch places in Pirate Cove, with Bonnie disabling all cameras if the player looks at him. Figurines on the desk tell the player who is active. It is always worth to put Bonnie on 20 and Foxy on 0 for free points, as Bonnie is no threat if the player doesn't look at him.
Withered Bonnie is slightly more dangerous, appearing in the Office at random, with the player always having to put on the Freddy Fazbear Mask to lure him away.
Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted[]
In the FNaF 1 mode, Bonnie acts exactly the same as in the first game.
In the FNaF 2 mode, Withered Bonnie acts exactly the same as in the second game.
In Parts/Service, Bonnie has his own level. The player must remove both of his eyes and place them in cleaning receptacles on the right side of the player.
In one of the levels in the Halloween DLC, the player has to put on Bonnie's mask if Withered Bonnie is gonna open the door.
Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery[]
The player has to find Bonnie by detecting the static and listen to his noises. When he charges at them, the player must shock him when he becomes visible. The player must also look away when he is in the "Haywire Mode", where he stands right in front of the player and twitches angrily. It is also possible to obtain his plush suit and his CPU upon defeating him. His skins acts exactly the same as the normal Bonnie.
