Bonzo is an malevolent deity associated with evil carnivals and circuses. He appears as a supporting antagonist in Scream Fortress events, mostly in the map Carnival of Carnage. He was worshipped by Ancient Sumerians and by Merasmus himself.

Appearance

Based on Merasmus' wooden idol of Bonzo, the latter's appearance is that of a circus clown; he wears striped and baggy clown pants, and shoes with the tips pointing upwards. Bonzo has a long curly beard and curly hair, a clown nose, and a striped pointed clown hat.

In his monster form, he has purple skin, menacing green eyes and a big gaping mouth with sharp teeth. There are also two additional sets of teeth inside.

TF2 Lore

According to Merasmus, Bonzo is an ancient evil circus god who can be appeased through rituals and human sacrifices. However, Ancient Sumerians also sought to appease Bonzo in other, rather, horrifying, bizarre, and bloody ways; this includes eating human heads and spinning sacrificial altar rides, which are also used to perform sacrifices to the evil circus god. From that day forth, all evil circuses have sought to appease Bonzo in the years to come. All of these are the result of, again according to Merasmus, Carnivalian Corruption.

Comics

Blood Money

An idol of Bonzo is shown on a monument Merasmus had erected. The wizard claimed that his idol is made from a wooden meteorite of unknown origin. A stick of Cotton candy is placed in the statue's right hand while two balloons are wrapped around the left.

As he seeks to summon the evil circus god himself, Merasmus borrowed $12,000 from the Japanese Mafia and used them to construct an evil carnival with the assistance of the Peterson's Evil Circus Installation and Repair company. However, to Merasmus' misfortune, he had forgotten to construct the carnival over an ancient burial ground, as it is required for the summoning of Bonzo. This forced the wizard to invite the Team Fortress 2 Mercenaries to kill each other, which would thus create a burial ground for the carnival.
