Borgant, also known as Baccara in the remake, is the main antagonist of the anime movie Doraemon: The Records of Nobita, Spaceblazer and its remake, Doraemon: The New Record of Nobita's Spaceblazer. He is an executive of the Garutite Mining Corporation who desires Planet Koya Koya for its massive amount of Gartite ore.
He was voiced by the late Kenji Utsumi in the original movie and Tōru Ōkawa in the remake.
Personality[]
A typical greedy businessman, Borgant isn't above resorting to dirty tricks to get what he wants, namely Planet Koya Koya's Gartite ore. When first arrived, he showed a charismatic side to himself by convincing its inhabitants that he was good so they would let him in, but once his true colors were discovered by Ropporu's father, he had the latter killed. It's also revealed that Borgant has repeatedly evaded arrest by bribing others, partially contributing to his strong grip on Koya Koya.
Borgant is also failure-intolerant, as he berates Doubt and Uno for failing to complete their task due to being defeated by the main group, and decides to invite Guillermin to help him instead. However, he has a pragmatic side to himself as he feels shocked by Guillermin's decision to blow the planet up as he still needs it for its resources. Unfortunately, even this side of his proves to be false as he goes along with Guillermin's plan anyways. Worse yet, upon seeing Guillermin being defeated by Nobita, Borgant activates the bomb before fleeing with Doubt and Uno, leaving Guillermin to perish with the planet. When being arrested, Borgant still tries to plead innocent to no avail.
History[]
Borgant had been eyed on Planet Koya Koya for its supply of Gartite ore for a long time. Upon arriving on the planet, he convinced the planet's inhabitants that he came with good intentions, while secretly exploiting its environment to find the resources. Along the way he had Ropporu's father killed for discovering his true colors, prompting Ropporu to realize the truth and determine to expose the corporation to Planet Koya Koya's people at all cost.
When Nobita, Doraemon and their friends visit Koya Koya, Borgant sends Doubt and Uno to force the planet's people to hand over it to him. However, the main group manage to defeat them due to a difference in the gravities of Earth and Koya Koya, much to Borgant's anger. Borgant then decides to invite the corporation's top enforcer, Guillermin, to take care of the new kids.
Upon his arrival, Guillermin does a good job in helping Borgant by blackmailing Koya Koya's inhabitants: either they hand over the planet to the corporation, or he will blow it up with a bomb. Although shocked at first as he still needs the planet for its resources, Borgant goes along with the plan anyways. Nobita eventually confronts Guillermin in a gun fight and kills him (defeats him in the remake), forcing Borgant to activate the bomb before fleeing with Doubt and Uno, but Doraemon's Time-Cloth nullifies it, leaving Borgant, Doubt and Uno to be arrested by the police.
