Boris Dime (Russian: Бори́с Дайм) is the minor character in Max Payne. Boris Dime is a former member of the Russian Mafia, but ended up turning coat and becoming a member of the Punchinello Crime Family.
Boris Dime is voiced by Peter Appel.

Background[]
Before the events of Max Payne, Boris Dime was a member of the Russian Mob, whose leader was Vladimir Lem, Dime always did the work and business for Vladimir. However, Boris Dime abused power with money, Boris ended up betraying his leader and the Russian mafia, becoming a member and enforcer of the Punchinello crime family.

After Max Payne escapes from Jack Lupino's hotel, Vladimir Lem appears in his Mercedes Benz and he starts making jokes with Max, and then Vladimir decides to make a deal he can't refuse. Vladimir explains to Max that Angelo Punchinello, the Don of the Punchinello Crime Family, is messing with Valkyr, and that's very bad for everyone, but not all of that.
And then he explains to Max about Boris Dime, who was a man who did business for the Russian mafia, and also the Captain of the cargo ship Charon, but Boris ended up betraying him and went by Punchinello's side, Vladimir explains that the ship is loaded with weapons large-caliber weapons, which is Vladimir's business, and if the Punchinello family obtains those weapons, Vlad loses and Angelo wins.
Vladimir then offers Max a job: If Max wants to catch and neutralize Angelo Punchinello, he needs some heavy persuaders, and Vladimir is the right man, and gives Max a task to get the cargo ship Charon back on the flag and kill Boris. Dime before Punchinello gets the weapons freighter. Max Payne accepts, and Vladimir Lem takes him to the Brooklyn Riverfront, where Boris Dime's ship was.
Max finally manages to find Boris Dime's ship, as soon as Max enters the bridge, he hears a call from Angelo Punchinello, and Max starts making fun of Angelo, leaving him furious and pissed off. Max goes down to the cargo hold, and he finally meets Boris Dime face to face, and they have a battle and Max kills Boris.
After Boris's death, Max manages to get all of Vladimir's weapons and Vladimir asks Max to meet him on the bridge, and then Vladimir tastes victory together with Max, and that one day they could drink Vodka like good comrades.
Personality[]
Boris Dime was a man who had loyalty and trust, but with his abuse of power with money, Dime ended up becoming a traitor and became an ally of Punchinello.
During the confrontation with Max Payne, Dime appears to be an extremely defiant fearless man, threatening to kill Max Payne without thinking twice.
Trivia[]
- During a conversation between Vladimir Lem and Max, in the Graphic Novels, Boris appears holding a Chinese copy of the AK-47, Norinco Type 56, but in the game he appears with a Winchester 1300 Defender shotgun, possibly the Type 56 was supposed to appear in the game, but it was deleted and scrapped.
- Boris' voice actor, Peter Appel, is the same voice actor who voiced Jim Bravura in the first Max Payne.
