~ Johnson trying to invoke the spirit of Winston Churchill.

Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson, known as Boris Johnson, is a major antagonist in the reboot of the ITV series Spitting Image.

He was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom when the series was rebooted in 2020, and subject to many satirical depictions of the various scandals and failures that befell the Conservative Party during this time.

He was voiced by Matt Forde, who also portrayed Donald Trump in the same series.

Physical appearance[]

Johnson's puppet reflects the real life Boris Johnson's trademark scruff appearance with unkempt blond hair. He wore unfitting suits and had narrow eyes and wide towels.

Personality[]

Johnson speaks with received pronunciation intercut with stammering and spluttering, also taken from Johnson's speech pattern. He also speaks with randomised emphasis, where certain words will be spoken with strong emphasis compared to the rest of the words in his sentence. He is dimwitted and shows limited awareness of the global events put before him. Instead, Johnson's main goal is to reduce the public outbreak of his scandals with the help of Dominic Cummings and his cabinet.

Johnson is also depicted to be out of touch with the general public through his upper class background, and is unaware of the traits and activities he does that the average person does not. He also offers Pig Latin phrasings to his speech. He also delegates important roles to prevent him from doing any work.

Biography[]

Background[]

Johnson was elected as Prime Minister in 2019 after the resignation of Theresa May after failing to negotiate an accepted Brexit deal. Johnson had previously served as Mayor of London before returning to the Conservative back benches after being replaced by Sadiq Khan. Johnson's incumbency had started with a stronger majority before he announced another election which saw him lose a large amount of seats.

In March 2020, Johnson announced a nationwide lockdown in the wake of the 2020 COVID-19 outbreak which led to a string of further scandals and criticism which were satirised in the show. Johnson is mostly seen speaking with his cabinet, comprised of Home Secretary Priti Patel (satirised as a xenophobic, anti-immigrant vampire), Foreign Secretary Liz Truss (satirised as an incompetent deal-maker with Satan; Truss later replaced Johnson as Prime Minister but this is not shown in the series), Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and Minister for the Cabinet Office Michael Gove (satirised as a drug addict), Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak (satirised as an egotistical and vain narcissist), Health Secretary Matt Hancock (a feeble and sensitive man) and Justice Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab (an incompetent and karate obsessed career politician).

Spitting Image[]

Johnson and Dominic Cummings, a senior Government advisor to Johnson, prepare a speech announcing Covid laws. Johnson criticises Cummings' speech, finding it too elitist to connect with the public. Cummings (who is secretly an alien) repeatedly asks to eat Johnson's newborn baby, which Johnson dismisses with ambivalence.

Johnson later tries to reanimate the ghost of Winston Churchill to restore glory to the Conservative Party, but is instead possessed by the spirit of Margaret Thatcher. Thatcher swears to permanently take over Johnson's body. However, the spirit is forced back to Hell after Johnson's cabinet sacrifice Matt Hancock.

In a Christmas special, Johnson is depicted as The Snowman who, when brought to life, asks the young boy who built him to bring his father's alcohol and food. Johnson repeatedly promises the boy that he will take him on an adventure (as the real Snowman does), but instead passes out from the alcohol and food.

Johnson tries to infiltrate a university to gain their vote, and is accused of cultural appropriation and being out of touch for wanting to smoke cannabis and party. After Cummings to ask to eat his baby again, he asks Johnson if he would be fired for doing that, and for blowing up Parliament. Johnson denies both of these. Johnson is later forced to fire Cummings for leaking his abusive texts about his wife, Carrie Johnson, to the press.
