This is a Boss-only zone now... AND YOU'RE NOT INVITED!!
~ Boss

Boss is a supporting antagonist in the OMORI franchise, serving as a minor character in the 2020 video game of the same name, and the main antagonist of the second chapter of the manga adaption, A Home For Flowers.

He is a large rhinoceros-like creature who captures Basil at the start of the game.

Appearance[]

Boss is a purple rhino-like being who wears blue overalls with a single visible pocket. His teeth and eyes are a greenish-yellow, And the tips of his horns fade into a lighter blue.

Biography[]

Past[]

At some unknown point, Boss tried to teach everyone in the playground of Vast forest how to play hide-and-seek. However, the way he demonstrated it involved body-slamming, possibly leading to some of the residents being injured by him. He seems to have been banned from the playground after this, as evident by the "No Boss zone" poster that was hung up.

Omori[]

After Omori finds everyone in the playground during their game of hide-and-seek, they notice that Basil is nowhere to be found. They then notice a nearby tree shaking, quickly revealing that Boss is keeping Basil captive. Basil's friends try to convince Boss to let him go, but he instead reveals his frustration towards being rejected from the playground, and implies that he plans on kicking everyone but himself out of the playground. He then attacks the group, nearly killing them, but he is ultimately defeated and lets go of Basil.

After this fight, Boss demands a rematch from the group, but is kicked by Kel before any of the others can accept the offer. Despite being held captive by him, Basil seems to forgive Boss and understand why he did what he did. Basil then gets rid of the "No Boss zone" poster, revealing that Boss is actually a genuinely kind individual by mentioning that he made sure he wasn't hurt during the fight. Boss then decides to go back into hiding behind the fake tree, labeling it as his spot.

If Boss is interacted with after Basil goes missing again, he will show more of his kind nature by showing concern for Basil. He also makes sure there is no confusion by saying he isn't responsible for this disappearance.

In the game's alternate route, it is revealed that Boss found and entered Humphrey at an unknown point, setting up the "boss rush challenge" within the whale.

Trivia[]

  • Boss seems to know about advanced technology, as evident by the teleporters and what seem to be holograms in the Boss rush challenge.
    • However, he could have also gotten assistance from the Slime girls.
  • When Mr. Jawsum tricks everyone at the playground into signing contracts to work for him, Boss is one of the few residents who isn't found at the Last Resort. But the fact that he managed to find Humphrey in Deeper well implies that he might have also signed a contract.
