The Boss Bird, also known as the the Guardian of the Music World is a both a minor antagonist and a boss in both Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends, as well as the main antagonist of the spinoff Rayman Fiesta Run.
He started off as the guard of the entrance to the Desert of Dijiridoos where he fought against the heroes until they use their mosquitoes to defeat him. Following his defeat, he rose up as a leader and ruler of Candy Land to seek revenge on the heroes for what happened last time.
History[]
Rayman Origins[]
When Rayman, flying on his mosquito, reaches the other side of the mountain, the day slowly turns into the night. Sky is then filled with wooden flying bombs that can be destroyed or sucked by the mosquito. Suddenly, the Boss Bird appears and tries to suck Rayman, his friends and their mosquitoes to swallow them or to suck some bombs to spit at them. The heroes must avoid the Boss Bird's suction and bombs and attack him as often as it is possible. Good way to attack is to suck and throw some flying bombs at him. When the Boss Bird is finally defeated, he deflates like a balloon and falls.
Rayman Jungle Run[]
Though the Boss Bird does not psychically appear in the spinoff game but seen on a wallpaper. In the wallpaper, this depicts him in presumably about to suck something (possibly any prey) into his mouth to begin feasting. The Boss Bird's wallpaper is only to be unlocked by collecting enough Lums for the player to see it.
Rayman Legends[]
He makes an appearance as one of the bosses in the Back To Origins story in Rayman Legends. Just like his role in the prequel, he guards the entrance to attempt the stop the heroes from gaining entry. Just like in Rayman Origins, he had failed his objective as he deflates and falling to never be seen again.
Rayman Fiesta Run[]
In the spinoff, it was revealed that the Boss Bird had survived his battle against the heroes and plotted to seek revenge by assuming leadership of the Nightmares. In the following days of his leadership, the Boss Bird had El Stomacho back to his nightmarized form and rebuilt Mecha Carnivora in a new mechanical body to serve him. With all of his power, he manage to invade and conquer Candy Land to be his personal base and had many Teensies captured to be taken as prisoners in cages.
He later encounters the heroes and battles them three times in the levels "Tchip-tchip", "Eggs drop!" and "Tchip-Tchip not happy!". In each of the levels, the Boss Bird will behave similar to his battle from Rayman Origins except now with his own forces with him and has the ability to lay eggs as projectiles to aim and shoot at the heroes. With the three levels completed, the Boss Bird could do nothing but retreat now that Candy Land has been liberated and all the captured Teensie have been set free.
It was unknown what happen to him afterwards, but he would be succeeded by the Flaming Teensy as another leader of the Nightmares, leading the events of Rayman Mini.
Trivia[]
- He is the biggest bird enemy in the game after the Mocking Bird.
- He can fly even when he doesn't move his wings.
- Unlike other villains from the game, he doesn't have Bubos (small bubbles of nightmarish material) as his weakness and doesn't turn back to his earlier version when he is defeated.
