Boss Sawyer is a minor character in the 2013 horror film Texas Chainsaw 3D, the sequel to the original 1974 film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre in the 3D timeline of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. He is the father of Drayton Sawyer, the grandfather of Leatherface and the great-grandfather of the film's protagonist Heather Miller.

He was portrayed by the late Gunnar Hansen, who also portrayed Leatherface in the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Biography

Boss only appears in the opening scene of the movie, with the rest taking place forty years after his death. Alongside the rest of his family, he is holed up inside the Sawyer's farmhouse following the events of the original film. When the sheriff's department arrive and demand they come out, Boss tries to convince his son Drayton to give up his grandson Jed, reasoning that they can give him up because he is "simple". Drayton protests, but eventually gives in.

However, just as they are about to give Jed up, a lynch mob led by Burt Hartman arrives with the intention of wiping them out. Hartman's right-hand Ollie Brown then throws a molotov cocktail through the window and lights the house on fire. Burt and the others start shooting everyone inside, with Boss being shot in the chest while taking cover away from the window.
