The Bounty Hunter is the main protagonist of the 2022 video game High on Life, and its 2023 DLC High on Knife. After Earth is invaded by Garmantuous, the Bounty Hunter goes on a mission to take down the G3 Cartel, the human trafficking group run by Garmantuous, and complete several bounties on the way.
Biography[]
High on Life[]
They are first seen being scolded by their sister Lizzie for not saying goodbye to their parents before they left. Moments later, aliens, specifically the G3 Cartel organization and its leader Garmantuous, invade Earth and start capturing humans. The Bounty Hunter meets Kenny, a sentient gun known as a Gatlian, found on the body of Rel Delmar, and the two begin working together to protect escape, and later protect, Earth.
The Bounty Hunter then sets out to find Gene, and obtains their Bounty Hunter suit, which gives them more abilities. They then proceed to teleport around the galaxy, hunting members of the G3 Cartel to kill for credits, and eventually track down and kill Garmantuous by sticking one of their Gatlians up the alien to trigger a bomb that explodes and kills the cartel leader.
High on Knife[]
In the DLC, set two years after the events of the main story, the Bounty Hunter is a professional, and taking on much bigger threats. However, after Knifey sees that they missed a package sent from his homeworld, the Bounty Hunter takes on the task of retrieving the package. They encounter Mux, the corrupt CEO of Muxxalon Shipping Company, kill her, and obtain the package.
After killing the jerk members of Knifey's family, the Bounty Hunter returns home to continue their bounties.
Personality[]
The Bounty Hunter doesn't say much, but it is clear that they hold some sort of resentment towards their parents, since they chose not to say goodbye to them as they were leaving.
In similar relation to the point above, the Bounty Hunter has some serious anger issues, to the point where they will see red and lose control if they get angry enough. For example, when the alien inside of Nipulon's Lounge describes how much they hate humans as a species, the Bounty Hunter starts twitching in anger and starts seeing red, before killing him. Another instance is at the end of the Nipulon fight, where the Bounty Hunter proceeds to mutilate Nipulon's corpse in anger even after Nipulon's death. The player does not control the Bounty Hunter during this frenzy, and despite its briefness, the Bounty Hunter recognizes they lost control and backs away after a moment.
Furthermore, the Bounty Hunter also will kill smaller life forms without hesitation, even aliens outside the G3 Cartel. It appears that, despite their heroism, the Bounty Hunter has some evil tendencies to them.
