Bowser's Brother, also known as Fake Bowser (Blue) or Blue Bowser, is the secondary antagonist of Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels.
He's a mysterious, blue-colored version of Bowser and a recurring boss throughout the game.
He is stated to be the youngest of the "Bowser twins", and is never seen or mentioned again in the Mario franchise after his initial appearance. He's assumed to be Bowser Jr.'s uncle.
Appearance[]
Bowser's brother appears spitting-image similar to his older brother, though with brighter red hair and a royal violet/indigo shell. In the Super Mario All Stars remake of Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, he appears fully identical to his brother, though an unused sprite shows him with a blue shell, brown scales, and magenta hair. The Bowser recolor based off of Bowser's Brother in the Super Smash Bros. series has blue scales, browner skin, and a blue shell.
Biography[]
Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels[]
He serves as the penultimate boss of the game, appearing before the fight with Bowser in World 8-4, where he fights Mario and Luigi by throwing fireballs and hammers at them. After being defeated, he later reappears in World 9-3, but does not breath fire.
In World D-4, a fake version of him fights the Mario Bros., being revealed as a Spiny upon being defeated.
Personality[]
Bowser's Brother has a personality that is clearly very similar to Bowser. He, like his brother, is shown to be ambitious, temperamental, and loyal enough to him to fight with Mario and Luigi. While not much is revealed about him, he proves he’s more than willing to help his own brother against his archenemy-duo. Like Bowser, he is unafraid to resort to murder.

Trivia[]
- Originally, he is referred to as simply a Fake Bowser, with there even being a guide that mocks the players for believing that he is Bowser's twin. Later on, this was changed in later material as he was then referred to as Bowser's younger brother. However, this went back and forth with him being either considered Bowser's brother or simply a fake. In the most recent material referencing him, it states that his true identity is simply unknown.
- There is a theory that Blue Bowser is actually Morton Koopa Sr., the biological father of the Koopalings and the namesake of Morton Koopa Jr.. However, Bowser is not related to the koopalings as he's confirmed to be not a family member of them, meaning Blue Bowser would be actually a not-relative to Bowser.
- There is also a theory that Blue Bowser became Dry Bowser after his defeat, as both Dry Bowser and Bowser are seen together several times despite seemingly being the same character. However, this just would happen in non-canonic timelines as this happens in games like Mario Party or Mario Kart, so it's unknown what happened to the Blue Bowser of the main line of the Mario games, where it is canonic.
- Although Bowser has an only son and Bowser Jr.'s mother was eventually confirmed, she was never mentioned. Bowser's Brother is considered one of the most mysterious antagonists from the Super Mario franchise.
- In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, one of Bowser's alternative costumes is based on Blue Bowser. This coloration originated in Mario Tennis.
