The Brain Spawn are the overarching antagonists of the sci-fi animated comedy series Futurama. They are a sentient species looking like big, flying brains that destroy other sentient thought, which they hate, bent on destroying the universe by collecting information about the entire universe to ensure that no new information would be created.
Biography[]
Led by the Big Brain, the Brain Spawn have existed since the beginning of the universe and spend their time destroying the cosmos, rendering a planet's population stupid and then destroying it. They even were responsible for the extinction of dinosaurs. The ultimate goal of the brain spawn is to gather all the knowledge in the universe and then destroy it to ensure that no new information would be created. The Brain spawn cannot see, but they detect the Delta Brain Waves of sentient beings.
The species constructed a massive Infosphere, where they collected all the information in the universe to destroy the universe in order to stop the creation of any new information once the task had been completed. They waged war against the Nibblonians who tried to stop them.
Philip J. Fry is the only being in the universe who, due his system, lacks of "Delta Brainwave", can't be affected by the Brains pawn. When Fry learns of this, he goes to the library so he goes there and sure enough, he tricks the Big brain, defeating him. After he leaves, the Nibblonians eats the other Brains, removing their effects from the people of Earth. Fry later teams up with the Nibblonians again and help them destroy the Infosphere, with the Brains inside.
