The Brambleberry Fairy is the main antagonist of the Strawberry Shortcake version of Sleeping Beauty. She is the film's verison of the Wicked Fairy Godmother.
She was voiced by Rachel Ware.
Appearance[]
Brambleberry Fairy resembles Angel Cake with purple hair, and a darker skin tone. She also has has dark lavender and purple wings, and wears a green and purple sleeveless dress, pink-purple leggings, and purple shoes.
Biography[]
Brambleberry Fairy is a fairy with magic connected to brambleberries. She teleported to Baby Princess Strawberry Rose's party, angry and hurt that she did not receive an invitation to the party even though she did and the letter was lost. Refusing to listen to reason, she curses the princess to vanish forever if she gets her finger pricked by a brambleberry bush. Later, the fairy Apple Dandelion weakened the curse by replacing the vanishing with sleeping instead to save the princess from dying. To prevent the princess from pricking herself, all the brambleberry bushes on the castle grounds and in the kingdom were burned. However, Brambleberry sends her crow to plant brambleberry bushes. Princess Strawberry Rose then pricks herself on the bramble berry bush thorn, fullfilling Brambleberry's curse. Later in the film, Brambleberry starts to regret casting the curse and realize she hurt everyone around her. She meets up with Prince Huckleberry who teaches her the importance of listening and not jumping to conclusions. Now redeemed, she begins to reverse the problem she made by bringing Strawberry Rose out of her sleep and apologizing for her early mistakes.
Trivia[]
- Brambleberry does not appear in any other Strawberry Shortcake productions as she is actually an evil version of Angel Cake.
- Brambleberry having a pet crow was most likely inspired by Maleficent from Disney's Sleeping Beauty as both Maleficent and Brambleberry are verisons of the Wicked Fairy Godmother from the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale.
