Brandy is the main antagonist of the third season of British drama series Benidorm. She is portrayed by Sheridan Smith.
Storyline[]
Brandy is first introduced at the beginning of season 3. She has accompanied Martin Weedon to Benidorm on holiday after meeting him at a self-help group and forcing him to take her with him, but the two do not really know each other well (having only just met in a support group). Martin is completely unaware that Brandy has come with him so that she and her secret boyfriend Gary Snelling could burgle the hotel.
Brandy decides to play a prank on Martin by hiding his clothes while swimming in a lake, resulting in the rest of the holidaymakers seeing him naked. Later at the hotel bar, Martin reprimands Brandy and she throws a drink over him before storming out and encountering a Spanish man whom she has sex with on the beach.
Brandy returns in the morning and finds that Martin is still annoyed at her. In order to regain his trust, she seduces him and convinces him that there is a 'spark between them'. That same day, she seduces hotel barman Mateo Castellanos and has sex with him. As he leaves in a rush, forgetting he has an appointment, it's revealed she has stolen his passkey, which can access all hotel rooms.
The following day, her boyfriend Gary arrives at the hotel and the two begin burgling all of the hotel rooms while the hotel guests are down in Neptunes. However, the two are caught in the act by Troy Ramsbottom, but they overpower and tie him to a heating pipe. They're last seen exiting the hotel with bags of people's belongings, while smiling smugly, and the hotel guests soon discover what's happened. It's later mentioned in the next episode by Noreen Maltby, in a conversation with Telle Garvy, that Brandy and Gary were apprehended by the police and were arrested.
She was most likely given a prison sentence back in the UK and banned from the Solana for her crimes.
Personality[]
Brandy is a rude, boorish and duplicitous person who was shown to have no qualms with deceiving and outright betraying those who trusted her, shown most notably when she met with Martin in a support group and later stole his cash, passport and phone when she and her boyfriend robbed the hotel.
She was profoundly insensitive and indifferent to the feelings of others around her, with a prominent example being when she spoke with an abundance of foul language while in the Prescence of children, despite being asked by Madge Harvey to not used bad language, to which she casually retorted: 'Chill out Grandma, it's supposed to be a holiday'.
As previously stated, Brandy was in a relationship with fellow criminal Gary Snelling, but was shown to very libidinous and unfaithful, seeing as she flirted with and even made love to other men she barely knew, whether it was part of a scheme, or to satisfy her own libido. However, they may have been in an open relationship, so it may not have been fair to judge her on this.
She was shown to be highly devious and cunning, as seen when she and her partner orchestrated a massive burglary of the Solana, in which she seduced the barman Mateo Castellanos, stole his passkey and systematically cleared out a sizeable number of hotel rooms and subdued Troy Ramsbottom (with the assistance of her boyfriend) when he caught her in the act. Further evidence to back-up these traits was when a trip to the falls saw her steal Martin Weedon's clothing (after seducing him into stripping naked) and threw them over some rocks, showing she was also something of a mean-spirited prankster as well.
