King Breager is the main antagonist of both Gargoyle's Quest, and Gargoyle's Quest II. He is imfamous for constantly trying to take over the Ghoul Realm by killing it's rulers, but then being stopped by the Red Blaze.
Appearance
Breager is giant, being four times the size of Firebrand. In Gargoyle's Quest, his skin color is blue and he has four arms, in both of his incarnations he is shown to be wearing angelic like armor.
Biography
Past
This story is told to the player by Lethe. Eons ago, Breager and his evil army named Destroyers invaded the Ghoul Realm from another universe and covered it in the Black Light. The Black Light brought death and destruction throughout the entire realm. When all hope was lost, a red gargoyle "turned into the Red Blaze" and sealed away the Black Light.
Gargoyle's Quest II
In Gargoyle's Quest II (actually a prequel to the first game), Breager is revived by his right-hand man Goza, and then goes on to send his army of destroyers to kill Morock, steal King Barr's power, and trap King Valles, the King of the Ghoul Realm.
After all of this is rectified by Firebrand, Goza at first challenge Firebrand only to be defeated by the red gargoyle. And when Firebrand reaches Breager to kill him, the tyrant makes a mistake of (in spite of not being 100% in his condition) underestimating the power of Firebrand and ends up suffering the fate of his right-hand. After finishing off Breager, Firebrand then goes on to wipe out the destroyers with fire.
Breager vows to return someday before meeting his demise. This story becomes the story that Majorita tells Firebrand in Gargoyle's Quest.
Gargoyle's Quest
In Gargoyle's Quest, Breager is revived after centuries, and he steals the power of the King of the Ghoul Realm, Darkoan. Firebrand then gives Darkoan his power back, and King Darkoan wipes out the destroyers while Firebrand defeats Breager.
Before Firebrand confronts Breager, The tyrant, now fully aware what Firebrand can become and is capable of, attempts to entice Firebrand with a proposition: serve Breager, and the Ghoul Realm would be Firebrand's to take and rule. This is a ruse on Breager's part: if Firebrand unwisely accepts Breager's proposition, Breager will immediately proceed to strip all of Firebrand's acquired powers, rendering the gargoyle nothing but level 1 ability on his hands to fight Breager. At this point defeating Breager is impossible. So Firebrand must reject Breager's proposition.
Before Breager fades into oblivion, he vows to resurrect someday once more, but perishes before he could finish his sentence.
