Bree Tanner is an anti-villainous antagonist in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and the main protagonist of the The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner.
She's a newborn vampire created by Victoria after being found in the street by Riley Biers. She surrendered to the Cullens, but was ruthlessly executed by the Vulturi.
She was portrayed by Jodelle Ferland, who also played Alessa Gillespie and Dark Alessa in Silent Hill, Aggie Prenderghast in ParaNorman, Lillith Sullivan in Case 39, Emily Dinsmore in Smallville, Melanie Merchant in Supernatural, Michael Rollins in The Messengers and Audrey in Revenge Porn.
Biography[]
Bree Tanner was originally a child raised by her abusive father in Idaho. Shortly before her sixteenth birthday, she ran away to Seattle. Bree tried to start a better life and get a job. Unfortunately, she failed and started stealing to survive. While searching trash cans for decent food to eat, a Newborn Vampire named Riley Biers found her and lured her into an alleyway with his lover Victoria. Victoria bit Bree Tanner causing her to endure a painful transformation over several days that felt like being burned alive.
Afterward, Bree Tanner adjusted to her new condition and met several other Newborns created by Victoria. One member, Jen ripped Bree's arm off but Bree was able to reattach it due to the Crystalline properties of Vampires. As a Newborn, Bree Tanner had to survive in the streets by killing people for blood. Victoria and Riley Bier told her and her peers that they burn in sunlight and die when impaled with wooden stakes. Bree Tanner eventually met a fellow Newborn named Diego while hunting and they discovered that they're unharmed by sunlight and sparkle instead.
Bree Tanner participated in the Seattle Newborn Armies attack on the Cullens but was offered to escape by Fred. She refused so that she could find Diego but discovered that he was destroyed by Riley and Victoria. Bree Tanner surrendered to the Cullens and was offered sanctuary as a survivor. However, the Vulturi followed closely behind and saw Bree Tanner as a criminal because she failed to follow the Vulturi's rules for Vampires. Jane tortured Bree Tanner with her Pain Illusion powers and ordered Felix to destroy her. Bree Tanner closes her eyes as Felix rips her body apart. Bree screams in pain until Felix burns her to ashes, ending her existence.
