~ Brendon introducing himself as the Boogie Man to Keith. |
Brendan Dumont is the main antagonist of the indie horror game The Boogie Man. He is a serial killer and former Hollywood actor who inherited Livingston castle and turned it into a vacation zone, while secretly killing the unknowing tourist under the disguise of The Boogie Man.
Personality[]
On the surface, Brendon is a jovial and optimistic young man, if not a bit socially awkward. He has an interest in the history of his castle, especially it's dark gruesome past, even using it as a tourist trap. He enjoys movies and police drama as well.
As the Boogie Man, he is a psychopathic and sadistic murderer who treats such as a game. He likes to view himself as a supervillain rival to Keith, enjoying challenging him. He will typically flee from any direct confrontation, using the vent system or other traps to traverse his castle. He is not a coward though, as he will still taunt his enemies even when faced against the odds. He enjoys creating dramatic tension, even going as far as using stage effects and elaborate puzzles against his victims.
It should be noted, however, that Keith sees Boogeyman differently from the other protagonists for mysterious reasons. Keith sees him as a more expressive and cartoonish, while the others see him as just a serious stone-cold killer. The latter is most likely true, as the Boogeyman's expressiveness is part of his own delusions.
He is very methodical and calculating his plans, having gathered background information on the tourists just to torture them. It is likely that Brendon has planned out his whole life carrying out these sadistic acts.
He was most likely born evil and had to repress his urges due to his extremely strict parents, given he said they "denied him" the fun he always wanted.
Biography[]
Brendon grew up in Livingston Castle, under the tutelage of his strict, religious parents. He was forced to read the bible and study, being locked in a closet if he disobeyed them. As such, Brendon had developed repressed urges of becoming a monster and murdering his family.
At some point, Brendon went to film school and worked in Hollywood, which he presumably used to plan out his future crimes. After the death of Brendon's parents, he inherited the castle, then turned it into a tourist trap to carry out his plans.
