Brian Wicks is a fictional character and supporting antagonist of the British soap opera EastEnders, appearing only twice on 28 April 1988 and 11th May 1989 respectively.

He was portrayed by Leslie Schofield, who later played Jeff Healy on the show just a decade later.

History[]

Brian Wicks was known to be a painter and decorator who lived around Walford, a fictional borough in East London, for a lengthy amount of time. As such he resided outside of Walford's market town Albert Square.

It soon transpired that Brian Wicks is the second husband of local resident Pat Butcher. They had been married since July 1965 nearly a year after she gave birth to her youngest son Simon, who has become the subject of a long-running mystery regarding who is his biological father. At first it was summoned that Pat's first husband Pete Beale, his brother Kenny, and their close friend Den Watts were each listed as those who could be disclosed as Simon's biological father. However, it was eventually revealed that Brian himself was actually Simon's father.

However, it later turned out that Pat's marriage with Brian was far from pleasant. He was mostly absent and was constantly abusive towards Pat and her children, including both Simon and his half-brother David. On occasions he would beat up Pat and her children, mainly whenever it was due to marriage or family problems. Soon in 1986, Pat left Brian to escape his abuse and resided in Albert Square.

Eventually, Brian tracked down Pat in 1988. From that point he learned that Pat had embarked on a new relationship with her lover Frank Butcher and the pair were running The Queen Victoria public house together. When they came face-to-face, Brian made it clear to Pat that he was interested in her monetary assets and wanted a settlement in exchange for their divorce. She refused and he began badmouthing her until Frank ejected him from the pub.

Over a year later, Brian learned that Pat is planning to marry Frank. She wishes to divorce Brian and he agrees in exchange for the money settlement. She steadily manages to accomplish this and Brian leaves the square afterwards, never to be seen again.
