Bridges: Your daddy thought Campbell did it too. Till he suspected somebody hacked his credentials to access those names. I guess that makes you the better Ranger. He could never get to the bottom of it
Carlos: Because you killed him.
~ Bridges being revealed to be Gabriel's killer.

Chief Bridges is the main antagonist of 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5. He is the Chief of Texas Rangers and the direct superior of Gabriel Reyes later Gabriel's son Carlos Reyes. Bridges is later revealed to be the prime suspect in Gabriel's murder after it is revealed he is a corrupt Ranger who sold out many of his colleagues for money.

He was portrayed by Alan Autry.

Biography[]

Not much is known about his past, but Bridges worked with Gabriel Reyes for years and seemingly had respect for his capabilities, as Bridges was well versed in some of the latter's words and instincts. Sometime after, he acted as a mentor to Ranger Sam Campbell and his teachings led to Campbell becoming one of his best besides Gabriel.

Unknown to all, Bridges was actually a corrupt Ranger who abused his position to sell out many of his colleagues and their CI's for money. Because of the many deaths, Gabriel investigated with approval from his Chief but was unaware that his superior was actually manipulating him by monitoring his search to navigate attention from him and blame other rangers.

"Best of Men"[]

He is alluded to when Gabriel put in a good word for his son to join the ranks. Bridges was particularly impressed with Carlos thwarting a kidnapping, catching a serial killer duo and stopping an organ trafficking ring. While Carlos was flattered by the honor, he refused because he was content being a cop.

Meanwhile, Bridges discovered Gabriel had exonerated any rangers from potentially being dirty and decided to eliminate him. At night, he arrived at the Reyes home while Gabriel was preparing to be his son's best man and Bridges rung the bell, before readying his gun. Gabriel answered the door and saw his off-screen assailant who promptly shot him in the chest before fleeing. The shot alerted Gabriel's wife and her son, who was on a call with his mother.

Bridges is physically seen giving a eulogy for Gabriel and giving his widow a flag.

"In Sickness and Health"[]

When Carlos found taped videos of his father discussing the possibility of dirty rangers and CI's, he went on a personal search to find out who was responsible. Carlos' fiancé TK Strand grew worried and contacted Bridges who went with him to find Carlos holding an informant at gunpoint. Bridges talked him down, saying that Gabriel helped him find those dirty rangers years ago and claims the Texas Rangers are unaware of his killer.

Working With another Reyes[]

A year later, he has allowed Carlos to join the Texas Rangers and partnered him up with Sam Campbell, once seeing their disagreement. The Rangers investigated a series of armored truck robberies who killed a security guard in one attack. When Carlos voices his intuition is telling him something, Bridges comments that Carlos sounds like his father before Campbell brings up its former soldiers responsible. Once Carlos and Campbell compare notes, they are in agreement that the crew will strike again and someone will get hurt in the process. Bridges says that won't happen, if they catch them in the act and a successful sting leads to the crew's apprehension and the leader is confirmed to be military.
