Brandon Breyer's species are the overarching protagonists of the 2019 supervillain horror film Brightburn.
Biology and characteristics[]
We don’t know much about Brightburn's species, (they could not appear human at all, and instead only Brandon is because their species genetically modified him to blend into human society and then conquer it) but we assume they're externally indiscernible from humans, age towards adulthood at a similar rate, and can survive in any environment of a world that they were sent to. From their youth, they are capable of demostrating their many abilities. Members of this species have super strength, super speed, flight, invulnerability, telekinesis, heat vision, technopathy, and increased intellect. While their bodies are incredibly durable, they can be easily injured by an unidentified alien metal known to make up the coverings on their space pod, revealing that they have red blood just like ours.
Culture[]
Nothing is known about the origins of this species as of yet, but it is possibly implied that they are ruled by a tyrannical dictatorship that oppresses the races in the Milky Way galaxy. They are known to be hostile and imperialistic, sending infants of their race to other planets as presumably one-man invaders, letting the members of the target species raise and trust the child until the age of twelve, only for a mind controlling computer kept in their ships to activate and order them to take the planet for themselves. Brandon Breyer, the only member of this species to meet humans, displayed murderous tendencies from a young age, amplified after his computer activated. It is unknown if this is representative of his species or traits subconsciously influenced by unknown technologies from an early age, as Brandon was able to show other personality traits and live a relatively peaceful life for his early life. It is also unknown if the infants are sent with or without the consent of their parents, if invasion methods other than implanting their own children into a target race are utilized, or why such a specific invasion method is used. Any reason for conquering planets is unknown, although possibilities include colonization, acquiring resources, or enslaving other species. Their language is not known, but they are capable of easily learning and comprehending others, such as English.
Technology[]
The species are known to have developed highly advanced technology, and have been able to create spaceships able to travel across vast expanses of space. Said spacecraft, strangely, appear to be completely covered in the only known metal that can harm them. It is possible that this metal is common on their homeworld, and ideal for space travel, causing them to use it regardless of the danger it posed. Their infant-carrying pods are equipped with a computer that will activate after a certain amount of time, which will transmit a message to the children in their native language. The message will create or amplify murderous tendencies in them, order them to conquer the planet, and seemingly activate their powers to kill people.
History[]
Sometime in 2006, a male of the species was born, loaded into a pod, and sent to Earth from his hellish homeworld as a part of what appears to be a long-term invasion plan. The child was picked up by two humans, named Tori and Kyle Breyer, who named the child Brandon and raised him as their own son. Over the course of the following twelve years, little was shown of Brightburn's abilities, and he lived his life as a normal person until the computer aboard his space pod activated during the middle of the night, ordering him to "take the world." He discovered his powers and continued listening to the ship. Since this, he began to turn more and more disrespectful and disobedient towards his foster parents. His first act of murderous intent is soon shown one night after he kills all of the farm's chickens. During school, his next action resulted in Caitlyn's hand getting crushed, leaving him suspended for two days. Over this time, his murderous behavior reached a breakpoint and he begins a killing spree around his neighborhood, most of the killings involving those that upset him, including both of his parents. He is continuing his killing spree, alongside destroying buildings and generally causing chaos.
