“ | ..One matter before I leave, Your Majesty. If you will allow my opinion, I would not place so much trust in that... woman. | „ |
~ Bruunya to Zephiel. |
Bruunya is a supporting antagonist from Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade. During the Disturbance of Bern, she served King Zephiel as one of his three Wyvern Generals. Despite a few misgivings, Brunnya was devoted to her king and country. In Japanese, Brunnya is voiced by Nozomi Sasaki, while in English she is voiced by Julia Mcllvaine.
Appearance[]
Brunnya is a young woman with shoulder-length purple hair and a gold circlet with a purple jewel on her head. She wears magenta cape with silver pauldrons over a low cut, dark blue dress with light blue trim. Brunnya also wears white forearm-length gloves and matching stockings, while on her feet she wears white shoes with gold high-heels.
Personality[]
A devoted patriot of Bern, Brunnya competently and diligently executed Zephiel's orders even as her king sought to return Elibe to the dragons. Yet despite her support of Zephiel's campaign against humanity, Brunnya occasionally questioned his decisions, as demonstrated by her warning him not to completely trust Idunn. Furthermore, Brunnya has a strong code of honor, potentially shown by her disgust of the Etrurian nobles Roartz and Arcard for betraying their country even as they allied with Bern. She also cares deeply for the soldiers under her command, granting them permission to desert as the Lycian League approached the Dragon Sanctuary
Biography[]
At Zephiel's command, Brunnya's army overran Sacae, one of multiple invasions that sparked the Disturbance of Bern. With Sacae successfully subjugated, Zephiel called Brunnya back to assist him and fellow Wyvern General Narcian in an assault of Castle Araphen, where the leaders of the Lycian League were holding a war council. Together, Brunnya and Narcian decimated the League's army and grievously wounded it's leader, Lord Hector of Ostia. Zephiel requested Brunnya bring Hector before him, notified Hector that Bern and Lycia's strong relationship was meaningless when measured against his goal of liberating the world, and threw him into the castle dungeon. The business with Hector concluded, Brunnya informed Zephiel that she would return to Sacae, but inquired about his association with the Dark Priestess Idunn. Zephiel replied bluntly that a subordinate like her had a duty to follow orders, not question her leader's judgement.
Later at Taras Castle, Brunnya potentially met with Arcard and Roartz, Etrurian nobles who betrayed their country to Bern. The two were forced to flee when the capital city of Aquilia when the Lycian League stormed its palace and slew a demoted Narcian. Brunnya assured the two that Bern would not abandon them, and tasked them with defending Taras and Bulgar, respectively. She also notified both nobleman that their trials were easy compared to those of League's new leader, Roy. When the meeting concluded, Brunnya admitted to a soldier that she was unimpressed with their cowardice and treachery.
As Roy approached Bern Keep with the Lycian and Etrurian forces behind him, Zephiel received word that Narcian's replacement Galle and the third Wyvern General Murdock had fallen. Aware that he would likely perish in the coming battle, Zephiel ordered Bruunya to flee with Idunn, for as long as the Dark Priestess lived the war's purpose would not die with him. Taking Idunn to the Dragon Sanctuary, Brunnya entrusted her to the Manakete Jahn and prepared to defend the Sanctuary. Sure enough, Roy vanquished Zephiel and tracked Idunn using light emitted from the Divine Weapons he gathered. Aware that the inevitable fight would ultimately be futile, Brunnya granted her forces permission to desert, but the majority chose to stay out of solidarity with her and Bern. As she expected, Brunnya and her men perished in the ensuing conflict.
