Brunt is a male Ferengi and an antagonist first introduced in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Family Business".
He was portrayed by Jeffrey Combs, who had also played the various incarnations of Weyoun in the same series, as well as Shran on Star Trek: Enterprise, Herbert West in the Re-Animator film series, Dr. Vannacutt in House on Haunted Hill, Preston King in Hammerhead: Shark Frenzy, Mr. Lockwood in Stream, Brainiac in Injustice 2, Scarecrow and Doctor Moon in the DC Animated Universe, John Nichols in Criminal Minds, Milton Dammers in The Frighteners, Shepard Lambrick in Would You Rather, Gyrus Krinkle in Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!, Crawford Tillinghast in From Beyond, and Rat King in the 2013 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series.

An auditor in the Ferengi Commerce Authority, Brunt was assigned to audit Quark after Quark's mother Ishka had been found to have been making profit. Traveling back to Ferenginar, Quark was able to convince his mother to give up the money she had made before the FCA took action against Quark. After Brunt got the confession he was looking for, he left, hoping to never see Quark or his family again. Quark told him the feeling was mutual.
However neither Quark or Brunt would get their wish as Brunt would return again and again to harass Quark, his family, and Grand Nagus Zek - whom Ishka had gotten involved with.
After Zek retired and named Rom Grand Nagus, Brunt tried to get Rom thrown out of office, but failed in his attempt. As a result of his attempted coup Brunt was forced out of the Congress of Economic Advisers and lost his business license as well. Brunt was forced to partner with Quark's cousin Gaila to get back on his feet.
Trivia[]
Brunt was one of the many Star Trek roles to be played by Jeffrey Combs. In the Deep Space Nine episode The Dogs Of War, Combs appeared both as Brunt and Weyoun in the same episode.
