The Brute Predator, also known as Grendel, is a major antagonist of the 2025 Hulu science fiction action film Predator: Killer of Killers. He was a Yautja that came down to Earth in 841 AD and hunted Viking warriors, one of those being Ursa.
Appearance[]
The most defining feature of this Yautja was his imposing size and stature, as well as among most physically fit member of his kind. He also wore sparse body armor (the armor included a bio-mask) and had replaced his right arm with a prosthetic designed to release powerful sonic pulses.
Personality[]
Brute Predator displayed an honorable side as with other members of his kind who adhered Yautja Honor Code, keeping himself low profile with his cloak while stalking and observing preys. That said, instead of taking them out one by one until the most tenacious of them revealed themselves, his approach in testing their mettle being facing them head on, as demonstrated when deliberately revealing his presence by blasting Anders before deactivating his cloak.
Biography[]
Background[]
Due to unknown circumstances, presumably an injury sustained from previous hunt, the Brute Predator replaced his right arm with a sonic pulse cannon.

Stalking Ursa's Raiding Party[]
Brute Predator arrived at Scandinavia, Earth, in 841 A.D. to carry out his hunt there. Maintaining his distance and keeping himself hidden with his cloak, he observed Ursa's Raiding Party consisting of Ursa herself, her son Anders, and numerous warriors setting out for an expedition to destroy the Krivich tribe and their leader, Zoran, who was responsible for the death of Ursa's father. Concluding the group to be worthy challenge after observing how they emerged victorious in the ensuing skirmish culminating to Anders struck down Zoran who remained deviant despite losing both his tribe and life, Brute Predator revealed himself and attacked. As shocked as Ursa and her companions were by the unexpected interloper to the point of believing him to be Grendel himself, the group decided to face him head on only for their combined might prove to be no match for their otherworldly enemy; the Yautja soundly defeated the Vikings one by one, killing them in process and severely wounded Anders.
Endgame and Legacy[]
Brute Predator followed Ursa to a frozen lake littered with wrecked Viking ships. In the ensuing cat-and-mouse chase, Ursa discovered her opponent's inability to see her through her heat signature while hiding beneath a sheet of ice and subsequently planned her move. Meanwhile, Brute Predator, dismayed by the glitch in his Bio-mask because of Ursa's blows from earlier which spoke volume of her prowess as a worthy opponent, decided to up the ante by removing his Bio-Mask before proceeded to blast the surrounding wreckages one by one to flush her out.
Suddenly, Ursa interrupted him with an anchor connected to a chain before provoking the Yautja to attack. As Brute Predator unleashed a sonic blast at her face, Ursa shattered the already fractured portion of the ice under their feet, causing them to fall into cold waters below. In the ensuing underwater brawl, Ursa coiled the chain around the Yautja, activating his sonic pulse cannon, and swim away hoping her opponent would waste another blast and drown. The plan worked a bit too well; Brute Predator's final blast not only propelled her back to surface but also sent him backward and impaled by the anchor on the back of his skull due to its stronger recoil in the water, killing him.
Unfortunately, Ursa's victory was a pyrrhic one, as the wounded Anders succumbed to his wounds in her arms. To make matter worse, the news about Brute Predator reached Grendel King who subsequently ordered her capture.

Trivia[]
- Brute Predator's nickname by Ursa, "Grendel", was from a monster of the same name featured in the Anglo-Saxon epic poem Beowulf (700–1000 AD). Grendel was a towering monster that slaughtered everything in his path before being defeated by Beowulf who tore one of his arms off leading to him dying from blood loss.
- Interestingly, as if his imposing appearance already paralleled Grendel's own, Brute Predator's conflict against Ursa and co. could be compared to Grendel and Beowulf's own feud, as the Yautja soundly laid waste upon everything in his path and his defeat had something to do with handicapping a limb (in this case, Ursa used Brute Predator's own sonic pulse cannon against him).
- Brute Predator was among earliest Yautjas who came to Earth, predating Scar, Chopper, and Celtic's tribe who arrived at Mayan period in Paul W.S. Anderson's AVP: Alien vs. Predator (note that the latter film was set in its own continuity).
