Brutus is a minor antagonist from Disciples: Sacred Lands, The Ancient Ruin scenario. He was a large ogre, guardian of the passage to the city of Daven Fort.

Biography[]

Brutus was an ogre who, unlike his companions, did not follow anyone, but guarded a passage that led to a small town, Daven Fort. One of the dwarves' leaders, the king's bodyguard, Alderic, and his warriors wanted to get through, but the situation was not easy. Brutus showed minimal intelligence, as he guarded the very place that was the only possible passage to the city, which could only be reached via a river, which was also impossible. The river was guarded by a large, very dangerous demon lord, called Lord, and Brutus was an ogre with superhuman and amazing physical strength and immense endurance, against whom the dwarves, even with warriors, had no chance. But neither of them was invincible, both were completely alone, without companions, followers, or help, relying solely on their own raw strength. Alderic also noticed that if he defeated Brutus, he could immediately reach the city and not have to go around it, and that he was the weaker of the two threats, but he still had to prepare as thoroughly as possible. However, the dwarves knew that he had the same weaknesses as most ogres. He was slow, couldn't really attack first in combat, had no immunity to magic, and ranged attacks could slowly but surely weaken him. Calderic knew that he could only defeat Brutus by exploiting all of his weaknesses and preparing himself as thoroughly as possible. Only after several battles and serious preparation did the dwarf leader and his companions decide to attack the ogre, but not with brute force, because this was precisely the strongest support of his strength, in which he could not be defeated. Calderic used every possible runic spell to strengthen himself and his army and weaken Brutus, who did not move from his position, but guarded the passage despite the magical attacks. The dwarves attacked him after that, but even weakened and wounded, he was a very serious opponent who fought to the end. The giants felt the blows of his terrifying strength, but in the end Calderic killed Brutus. After the battle, they found a few things on the giant ogre's body, a Menta Minor scroll and a Vithar’s Ichor drink. Since Brutus had no idea how to use magic, scrolls, and potions, it is very likely that some brave but arrogant adventurers attacked him, which ended with him killing and eating them.

Powers and abilities[]

Brutus was the typical ogre. Zero tactics, no thinking, just raw, rough, and his superhuman strength. He was extremely strong in close combat, able to seriously injure even a giant with a single blow, and kill dwarves, humans, and other smaller creatures instantly. Like the other ogres, he had outstanding endurance and durability, practically not feeling the cuts and blows of simple melee weapons, and only really powerful weapons, artifacts, and spells could seriously injure him. However, he also had the same minor and critical weaknesses as the other ogres. He was slow, he didn't really take the initiative in fights, ranged and magical attacks could successfully weaken him, and although his durability and endurance was outstanding, he wasn't resistant or immune to anything.
