Brutus is the secondary antagonist of the 1977 Peanuts film Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown.
He is a sadistic and evil bobcat (misidentified as a dog by Sally) who intimidates even Snoopy and Woodstock. Like his owners, he is horrified by Linus' way of using the security blanket as a weapon.
His vocal effects were done by the late Jackson Beck, who also voiced Bluto in the Popeye shorts.
Personality[]
Brutus is shown to be so sadistic and evil that even Snoopy is easily frightened by him and attacks and attempts to eat Woodstock every time he sees him, and takes it out of sadism.
Biography[]
He is first seen when Charlie Brown, having been wiped out by Snoopy from a long motorcycle ride to camp, accidentally runs into one of his owners. Where they use Brutus to attack Charlie Brown, Snoopy and Woodstock, but Linus fights back by using his blanket as a whip and hitting the robbers with it to make them back off.
The night before the river rafting race, he joins his owners in the race and helps them endanger the lives of the other contestants to make sure they can beat them. However, all teams encounter various obstacles: getting lost, stuck, storms and blizzards. As Snoopy leaves the race to relentlessly search for Woodstock after being separated by a storm, the thugs attempt to repair their raft to return to the river race.
He later spots Woodstock and cruelly tries to eat him, but fails when the branch he was on breaks, causing him to fall into the water. He was later found by his owners and rejoined the race with them, where they faced more damages to their raft during the race. After Brutus' owners supposedly take out the Peanuts gang, the raft sinks before reaching the finish line. After the thugs destroy Snoopy's raft, Woodstock builds a raft out of twigs and proceeds to victory. When Brutus tries to attack Woodstock, Snoopy is able to face his fear of Brutus and beats him up twice for always trying to kill Woodstock, allowing him to win the race.
