Buli and Guli are overarching antagonists of the manga/anime series Fairy Tail. They were either the leaders or high ranking members of the Zeref cult that constructed the Tower of Heaven using slaves they kidnapped after massacring their villages, with Erza Scarlet, one of the main heroines of the series, being among their victims.

Appearance

Like their followers they wear uniforms that look like a mix between jackets and robes. They also wear masks that carry their symbol, one of the pair being skinny and the other being large and fat.

Personality

From what was shown in the flashback, they are depicted as a pair of cruel and sadistic cult leaders who are willing to commit countless massacres, enslave the survivors and subsequently abuse and torture them, many of whom were children, all for their goal of resurrecting The Black Wizard Zeref.

Biography

Along with their cult, they kidnapped people from numerous villages to have them enslaved and forced to work on the construction of the Tower of Heaven. Among their many victims was a young Erza Scarlet, who along with her childhood friends, among them being Jellal Fernandez, tried to escape only to be caught. Erza, who was accused of coming up with the idea, was tortured to the point where her right eye was permanently damaged.

After a slave uprising lead by Erza, who awakened her magic, the cult's leadership changed hands to the former slave they were torturing, Jellal Fernandes, after he was possessed by a mysterious being claiming to be Zeref himself (only later to have been revealed to be Ultear). Jellal proceeded to murder Buli and Guli along with their followers, and take over the Cult and Tower project himself.

Trivia

• Ironically, their creation of the Tower proved to be for naught as Zeref was never dead in the first place.
• Their actions would lead to not only Erza joining the Fairy Tail Guild but the creation of the Oración Seis who were also slaves of the Tower of Heaven.
