The Bulleteers are the titular main antagonists of the Superman short film The Bulleteers from 1941. They are three gangsters that partake in several robberies and acts of terrorism across Metropolis, but are eventually defeated by Superman and arrested.
Biography[]
The Bulleteers are three criminals that are located in a secret lair hidden in a canyon outside of Metropolis, accessible through a falls stone wall that acts as a drawbridge. The Bulleteers commit crimes with the use of a super-powered vehicle known as the Bullet Car. This car is shaped like a bullet (sense the name) and equipped with rocket boosters allowing flight, and dense enough to withstand high-speed impacts without resistance. They initially demonstrate this by flying through the Police Headquarters and crashing through the other side without issue, leaving behind an explosion that destroys the entire building.
The Daily Planet sends Lois Lane and Clark Kent to cover the incident, but their attention is drawn to an announcement made by the Bulleteers for all of Metropolis to hear. They demand everything in the city treasury under threat of leveling every major building in the city, but the mayor refuses to submit to the demands and takes action against the villains. News of the mayor's refusal is published in the Daily Planet's following article, angering the Bulleteers and forcing their hand.
They take to the skies during the following night and crash through the Metropolis power station, causing a blackout across the whole city. They then aim for the treasury as planned, but are hit off-course and sent briefly flying out of control by the sudden arrival and a strike at the vehicle by Superman. After the Bulleteers nearly inadvertently kill Lois after crashing into a different building, Superman rescues her and chases after them. He quickly catches them and they shake him off the Bullet Car, and Superman is too late to stop them crashing into the Treasury.
As an unconscious Superman lies buried under the debris, Lois takes the opportunity to sabotage the vehicle's controls while the the villains are busy looting the Treasury. She is caught and taken with them as a hostage, but Superman frees himself and gives chase. He damages the Bullet Car's wing and tail before ripping it's roof open, pulling Lois Lane and the Bulleteers out before the Bullet Car plummets and lands with a fiery explosion. The three villains are then presumably arrested.
