The Bumblebees are the main antagonists of Episode 1 of Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures. They are bees of Queen Bee.

History

The Bumblebees have lived in their beehive, aiding Wallace and Gromit in their Honey Delivery side business. After a routine delivery job in which a batch of Rex Armstrong’s Quik-Grow Muscle Formula was used to produce more honey, the bees grew larger than they were before and decided to rule West Wallaby Street. Felicity Flitt was terrified by this and climbed up a tree for her own safety. Wallace is suddenly preoccupied with complaints about giant bees terrorizing the streets. He attempts to sort out the bees, but they overwhelm him, stripping him to his underwear and string vest, trapping him in the kitchen. When a bee arrives, one of them sleeps in Wallace’s bed with a record player to sleep but Gromit takes it out making the bumblebee angry at him for ruining its sleep. To rectify this, Gromit then pulled a lever in the kitchen causing a mechanism in the bedroom to activate, causing a hole in the floor to open and the bed to move diagonally upward, causing the bee to fall on the table, rebounding it towards the rubbish bin, which, Gromit opens to cause the bee to fall in, subduing it. Once they are in Wallace’s backyard, Major Crum shoots at them with Wallace’s porridge gun, after Gromit makes some adjustments to the yard to assist him, subduing them. Once Mr. Paneer is trapped in the market Gromit tries to save him but the bumblebees obstruct him. He then convinces Edwina Gabberley to close her newsstand by playing a message from her husband, showing humility, touching her and convincing her to close the newsstand to retire to their flat. He then shakes the rain gutter to cause water to fall on the bees, making them flee to the newsstand. Gromit then removes the support stick for the awning, causing it to fall on them, subduing the bees. Felicity attempts to get Gromit to deliver an SOS note from her to Wallace, who attempts to go save her in response to this, but the bees attack him, sending him back to the kitchen. The bees in the house were still active and would not let him leave. Gromit then proceeds to the basement, where the remaining bees are partying loudly with dance music playing on a record player. Gromit then goes outside to drop some cheese onto the top of the beehive structure in the basement and returns there. Once Gromit is disguised in the Sniffer 3000, he then uses the remote control for the Sniffer 3000 to move to the top of the hive, with the bees trying to sting it, though the durable metal protects Gromit. Then they lose interest and continue dancing. Gromit then uses the record from the bedroom on the record player to tranquilize the bees into falling asleep, subduing them. Wallace then attempts to save Felicity, only to realize he is still in his underwear. After this awkward revelation, he quickly redresses and saves Felicity as she falls from the tree, finally putting an end to the giant bees’ terror on the streets. After the Queen Bee is dealt with, Wallace then proceeds to concoct a counter formula to shrink the bees down to size. Unfortunately, Wallace had used the formula on himself, shrinking him. Wallace and Gromit presumably rectified this and succeeded in returning the bees to their normal size.
