Ellsworth Raymond "Bumpy" Johnson is the titular main protagonist of The Godfather of Harlem.
After serving ten years in Alcatraz, Bumpy returns to Harlem to continue his criminal enterprise while also protecting his family and dealing with rival gangsters.
He is portrayed by Forest Whitaker, who also played Rawlins in Bloodsport, John Kavanaugh in The Shield, Idi Amin in The Last King of Scotland, Jack Wander in Street Kings and Saw Gerrera in the Star Wars franchise.

Ellsworth Raymond Johnson was born on October 31st, 1905 in Charleston, South Carolina to William and Margaret Johnson. Due to their being a bump on the back of his head since he was young, he was given the nickname "Bumpy". Once he was sent to New York by his mother to live with his older sister, he turned to a life of crime after meeting the gangster William Hewett. At some point, he married a woman named Mayme Hatcher, whom gave birth to their daughter Elise. Rising to power in New York, Johnson became known as the "Godfather of Harlem" before he was arrested for drug conspiracy and sent to Alcatraz.

After returning from a long absence caused by an arrest, he will attempt to take back his empire, taking the territories from the Genovese family of New York and from Vincent "The Chin" Gigante.
Appearance[]
Bumpy Johnson is a character often dressed in black with gloves and occasionally a hat, he has a half-blind left eye and dresses in a classic old mobster elegant clothes.
Personality[]
He has a calm and respectful personality but can occasionally lose patience and give in to anger. He is also intelligent and wise, having a lot of experience, and being old he knows his way around, although he is American he doesn't seem to show respect to some Italian families like the Genoese one who stole their territory. He is protective of his daughter and her family and is also very intelligent.
