Burton Jernigan is one of the three secondary antagonists (alongside Alice Ribbons and Earl Unger) of the 1997 family comedy film Home Alone 3, the third installment in the Home Alone franchise.
He was portrayed by the late Lenny Von Dohlen, who also portrayed the Cop in Red Dwarf.
Biography[]
In the beginning, Burton Jernigan is first seen scanning his gang's associate which he confirms to his leader Petr Beaupre, who is given the computer missile-cloaking chip. With the chip given to them, Jernigan and Earl Unger give their associate his payment and leave after Beaupre and Alice Ribbons hide the chip in a toy car.
At the airport, Jernigan and his companions manage to get pass security with the chip hidden in the toy car. However, a luggage mix-up occurs, causing the toy car to end up with an old woman named Mrs. Hess. Alice confirms the toy car is no longer in their possession when she takes a bag full of sourdough bread, leading the group to look for their bag throughout the airport. Jernigan checks for the toy car in the bars, restaurants, and lounges, but is unsuccessful which he reports to his leader. Beaupre, who had been examining the flight departures, suspects their bag to be on a plane to Chicago so Jernigan and his allies go to board it.
When the criminals discover that Alex has possession of the car, they take action. Donning a gray-and-white camouflage suit, Jernigan accompanied his fellow spies in trying to get it from Alex. He ended up electrocuted by a chair connected to a car battery, sprayed with freezing cold water, getting a bad haircut by a lawnmower, falling through a hole in the floor to the basement, and getting accidentally hit in the groin by Alice, using Stan Pruitt's hockey stick,
After he and Earl fall into Alex's pool trap, they are arrested by the police for their crimes. In the final scene, Burton and the rest of the criminals are getting their mugshots taken and appear to have caught Alex's chickenpox.
