Buruburu is a Youkai serving as the main antagonist of episode 19 of Choujin Bibyun.
He is voiced by the late Osamu Ichikawa, who also voiced Marshal Machine in Kamen Rider Stronger.
Biography[]
Buruburu was awoken when Santa and his friends found a mysterious rock with a talismen around it. One of Santa's friends, Masao, chipped off a piece of the rock, causing it to spray out yellow gas. Buruburu then emerged and wrapped its hair around the necks of each of the children save for Santa, who managed to evade it. Buruburu's hair would slowly strangle the children over a period of time while also causing them to be scared of innocuous objects around them.
Buruburu later targeted Santa, seeking to make him his next victim. Lisa Akechi attempted to rescue Santa, but Buruburu summoned Yoki to hold her off. Bashaan then arrived and fought off the Yoki before fighting Buruburu to give Santa and Lisa time to escape. However, Buruburu was able to wrap his hair around Bashaan's neck, causing him to become scared as well.
The other Choujins then came up with a plan to lure Buruburu out by using Santa as bait. When Buruburu attempted to target Santa again, Bibyun and Zusheen ambushed it. Buruburu attempted to strangle Zusheen with its hair, but Bibyun used his Sky Sword to slice it off. Bibyun then performed his Fireball Attack on Buruburu, destroying him and leaving behind little other than a pile of burning hair.
Buruburu would later be one of the youkai revived in the final episode to do battle against the Choujins one last time.
