The Business King (商人之王) is a main antagonist of Taiwanese animated series Brave Animated Series, based on the comic Brave Series (勇者系列) by Yellow Book. He is a greedy oligarch who will sacrifice anything for money and power. He has an advisor, Despair Brave, the principal of Magic Academy.
He is voiced by Taiwanese voice actor Sun Cheng, who also voices Red Dragon in the same animated series.
Story[]
Business King is the king of the Brave Kingdom after Morewant murdered War King. This king is a real pain in Morewant's ass, and is difficult to deal with because of his shrewd business acumen and ruthless power play. His first order of business was to make money from the foreigners, so he made a pact with the Dragons to provide them with scales, teeth, and horns every month, and tricked them into taking Morewant Tower's land and charging Morewant for its rent. He portrayed the Dragons as vicious invaders, even going so far as to abduct Dragon Girl, the daughter of Dragon Killer Brave and Blue Dragon, to incite fear of the foreigners. Fueling human fear of the fey and lying to her that the war against the Dragons would stop hurting her family if she joined Braves, the attack eventually continued until Sick Demon's meltdown when he let up for a while. Even though Dragon Killer Brave offered him peace, he refused to sign it.
Personality[]
Business King is full of complexities and contradictions. He is a complete egoist who sees everyone as an 'asset' to be exploited.
- Ultimate Manipulator and Deceiver: He understands human nature and is adept at exploiting the people's fear of demons and hero worship to create a 'drama' for profit. He uses the relationships of others as leverage, just as he used a half-dragon, half-human girl to manipulate her father. He even gives out scripts and asks people to speak the way he wants them to, for public relations purposes.
- Greedy and profit-oriented: He only has money in his eyes and even describes himself as a "businessman". He wants to make money from the other races and will do anything to do so. He signed an agreement with the Dragon clan, asking them to provide precious materials such as dragon scales and dragon teeth every month, and tricked the Morewant into taking the land of his tower and collecting rent from him.
- Ruthless and Arrogant: He rejects the offer of peace, believing that only the destruction of the Dragons can quell the people's discontent. When he has a bargaining chip in his hand, he displays extreme arrogance, believing that he is in control of everything and does not care to negotiate with the weak.
Relationship[]
Braves[]
- Manipulation and Exploitation: Business King is in complete control of the Braves and sees them as tools to achieve his goals. He sends Braves to attack his opponents, be they Dragons or other races, even those who no longer obey him.
- Illusion and Propaganda: Business king is good at utilizing the image of the Braves to strengthen his rule. He will use them to justify his decisions, and through public speeches, he will present the public with the illusion that "Braves will be on the front line to protect the people". All of this is done in order to stir up people's hearts and gain more power and money.
- Betrayal: Loyalty Brave, who has done so much for Brave Kingdom, is eventually abandoned by him and even accused of being a traitor.
Morewant[]
Business king did not go to war with Morewant directly, but rather squeezed Morewant economically, utilizing an ancient land lease to collect rent from Morewant for the land around the tower. This oppression caused Morewant to fall into a chronic financial deficit, and he even had to take up odd jobs in order to make ends meet.
Appearance[]
As the name suggests, Business King wears white-collar clothing. His hair is gray, but his beard is brown, and he wears a burgundy jacket suit with gold buttons, a white shirt, black tie, black shoes, and sometimes a black coat. But twenty years ago, his hair was darker brown than it is now.

Trivia[]
- In the original comic, he has family: a wife: Secretary for Intelligence, two sons: a politician and a noble, separately, and a daughter called "Princess Brave", leading the palace army.
- The character seems to be loosely inspired in Xi Jinping. This is because in the series he says that the Demon Kingdom is part of his territory, despite it is led by a different government. This being a reference to the cross-strait relations.
