Cab and Rodo are the secondary antagonists of the Spanish film Pinocchio 3000. They are Mayor Scamboli's henchmen who help him replace all of nature with technology, but are fired after Cab annoys Scamboli with his stupidity.

Rodo was voiced by Paul Borne, while Cab was voiced by Matt Holland.

Biography[]

Scamboland

Scamboland

After the failed opening ceremony of Scamboland, Scamboli orders Cab and Rodo to go to the school and give all the children tickets to his park. However, Cab and Rodo are unable to give the tickets to anyone, as the children were disappointed with the ceremony, thinking that Scamboli built a non-working amusement park to mock them. But Cab and Rodo spot Pinocchio and Spencer and try to recruit Pinocchio, but Spencer interferes, and then Rodo decides to beat up Spencer. He almost catches up to him, but the winding runs out and he passes out.

Then, during an argument with Marlene, Cab and Rodo decide to push Pinocchio to beat Marlene, to show that robots are not dumb in Marlene's opinion.

Later, Cab and Rodo, after convincing him to come along by getting him interested in their "boss", take Pinocchio to Scamboli, where he asks Pinocchio for advice on how to attract more children to his park. Pinocchio mentions that life would be easier if children were like him. This gives Scamboli an idea and offers Pinocchio the job of the park's mascot, which he gladly accepts. While Pinocchio is holding the opening ceremony with Cab, Scamboli kidnaps Geppetto to test his latest innovation at his park, a roller coaster called the Whale of Change that turns its passengers into Scambobots. Realizing that he helped Scamboli achieve his goal, Pinocchio runs off to find Geppetto.

Pinocchio and Spencer use Cab's shuttle to reach Scamboland, where they discover the robotic Geppetto and the children. Scamboli uses his remote to make the Scambobots chase Pinocchio and Spencer, chasing them into the "Tunnel of Danger". Spencer manages to grab the remote, but drops it when Cab gives it to Geppetto, controlling the other Scambobots to catch Scamboli.

Then Scamboli gets furious at Cab's stupidity and fires them both. The robots, however, are not too desperate and decide this: they will live on their own (or rather, Rodo will live on his own, and Cab will serve him). In the end, they can be seen walking off into the sunset, until Cab notices a butterfly, which leads to a dance that ends with Cab falling on Rodo.

Personality[]

Cab[]

Cab is an incredible idiot, as he is the one who caused many of Scamboli's plans to fail and generally made a laughingstock of him. He can easily forget which side he is on, who he is listening to, who he needs to give this or that thing to and what he needs to take with him. Because of this, many either laugh at him or get annoyed with him, as his stupid and hyperactive personality is constantly being exploited by them. However, Cab does have a shuttle that he apparently pilots, although it is unclear how he got the right to do so (though he may have created fake papers for it). There is also a huge possibility that he is so stupid because of the disk Marlene put in his body.

Rodo[]

Unlike his friend, Rodo is a more intelligent robot, although he often acts incompetent. He cleverly goaded Pinocchio into going with them to Scamboli, and also used his prickles to stop Pinocchio, although it did not work. However, like Cab, he is incompetent, as he often hesitated in situations that required him to think quickly, which was part of the reason why he and Cab were fired.

Trivia[]

  • They are probably based on Honest John and Gideon. However, the roles have been reversed: Cab-Honest John is the comic jerk, and Rodo-Gideon is the smart one.
  • In general concept, Scamboli is very similar to Eggman from the Sonic games, with his passion for robots and desire to replace everything with technology, his black and red color scheme, his habit of naming things after himself (obvious examples: Eggmanland and Scamboland), and the fact that both have metal hedgehogs working for them. Even Cab resembles one of Eggman's robotic servants.
