Cabaji (カバジ Kabaji) is a minor antagonist in the manga and anime series One Piece. He is the chief of staff of the Buggy Pirates. Being a loyal follower of Buggy the Clown along Mohji, his rival.
He is voiced by Endō Moriya in the Japanese dub, Joseph Murray in the Odex dub, J. Ward Regan in the 4kids dub, and Greg Ayres in the Funimation dub.
Biography[]
Cabaji, the acrobatic swordsman of the Buggy Pirates, first appeared at Buggy's side and tried to attack Mayor Boodle but was ordered to stand down. When Luffy reflected a Buggy Ball and devastated the crew, Cabaji used Richie as a shield. He then attempted to execute Luffy but was intercepted by Zoro, leading to a duel. Cabaji fought dishonorably, targeting Zoro's wounds and using tricks like flame breath and spinning tops. Despite Zoro's injuries, Cabaji was ultimately defeated by Zoro's Oni Giri and left stunned by the loss.
After Buggy's initial defeat, Cabaji fled Orange Town with the crew. He and Mohji fought over leadership but were both knocked out by a sleepwalking Richie. Upon Buggy's return, Cabaji resumed his position and later helped defeat the Kumate Tribe. He participated in the attempted execution of Luffy in Loguetown, pinning him at the execution stand, though the plan was foiled by a lightning strike. He celebrated with the crew when Ace joined them at a party.
When Buggy was imprisoned in Impel Down, Cabaji urged Alvida to save him but later pretended to have never given up hope after Buggy returned. He reintroduced himself to the Impel Down escapees with Mohji while riding his unicycle. After Buggy became a Warlord, the crew was pardoned. They were summoned to fight the World Pirates and boarded their ship under Buggy's command, witnessing Byrnndi World defeat Luffy and then helping revive him.
During the battle with Gairam, Cabaji had to dodge the Cube Booster attack. He and Mohji suspected Buggy was only thinking about himself but decided to "go with the flow" and cheer him on with the rest of the crew. When Gairam attacked again, Cabaji ran with the others. He was shocked when Buggy was turned into a cube and inadvertently revealed the existence of the Buggy Ball during Buggy's bluff about a secret weapon. After Hancock defeated Gairam, Cabaji and Mohji still had doubts but chose to play along with the cheering.
The crew then escaped from the Marines and returned to their ship. After the timeskip, Cabaji was seen at Karai Bari Island during a feast at Buggy's Delivery. He sat behind Buggy along with Mohji, Richie, Alvida, and Galdino, celebrating the fall of Doflamingo, though Mohji spoiled the mood by revealing that the New Giant Warrior Pirates had defected to the Straw Hats. Cabaji later attended the Pirates Festival and, after the Warlords system was abolished, witnessed Crocodile destroy a Marine fleet to recruit Buggy's group into the Cross Guild.
