Biography[]

Early life[]

After Cade joined the Beverly Hills Police Department, his training Officer was John Taggart, and they became friends through the years. Cade was shot in leg in the line of duty, a wound that almost broke his tibia. He was awarded a ribbon for his act of valor and a "pat on the back." He didn't feel this was sufficient compensation for his injury, so he grew bitter and resentful. He couldn't afford to live in the city he policed. He turned to a life of crime to support his lavish lifestyle, viewing it not as being traitorous, but getting what he deserved. He used this position as a Police Captain and Commander of BHPD Interdepartmental narcotics task force to aid criminals and sell drugs. During that time, his wife divorced him and his children won't speak to him, which was a result to focusing only on his job.

Several months back, Detective Billy Rosewood made a bust on a Cartel crew out of Adelanto, though the case when nowhere and the charges were dropped for lack of evidence. The drugs Rosewood confiscated turned out to be powder. The supervisor on the case was Captain Grant, which solidified Rosewood's belief the Captain was dirty. He accused Grant of swapping out the drugs for the powder, and swore up and down to Chief Taggart that Grant was dirty. Taggart didn't believe him, and because Rosewood wouldn't let it go, he created enemies in the police department and ultimately turned in his badge.

Grant worked with Lieutenant Copeland to traffic drugs through Beverly Hills. Copeland wanted out of the deal and to go clean, but Grant couldn't risk him telling everyone the truth. When Copeland was undercover mulling drugs with cartel-adjacent member Sam Enriquez, Grant orchestrated a hit on Copeland that resulted in his murder. He then framed Enriquez for the crime. Rosewood didn't believe Enriquez was guilty, and tried to convince the detective on the case Bobby Abbott, though Abbott saw Rosewood as a crazy old detective interfering in his investigation. As such, Rosewood enlisted the help of his close friend and high-end criminal defense attorney Jane Saunders, who decided to represent Enriquez herself.

Trivia[]

  • While Grant acts like he and Foley are the same in the sense their career as police officers had cost them to having a normal relationship with their respective families. However, unlike Foley who wants to make amends with his daughter Jane and is willing to accept his past mistakes, Grant only cares about himself after his family abandoned him and used that as his reason to become a dirty cop.
  • Grant is the second main villain to be revealed as law enforcement official but Grant unlike his predecessor Ellis DeWald, was a policeman during the events of the film, while DeWald was a policeman long before Beverly Hills Cop III as he stated.
