Cahill is a minor antagonist of the BBC British soap opera television show EastEnders.

He was portrayed by John Ashton.

History[]

Nothing is known about Cahill apart from the fact he is a notorious convict who got imprisoned before late 2006 for an unknown criminal activity; most likely being associated with organized crime in Walford, a fictional borough in East London, due to being a gangster with criminal connections.

By October 2006, Cahill became acquainted with Walford's former gangland kingpin Johnny Allen when the latter became his prison cellmate; Johnny had been sentenced to 27 years imprisonment for his gangland activities in Walford's market town Albert Square, which involved getting his errand boy Danny Moon to murder local hardman Dennis Rickman on New Year's Eve 2005; killing his gangland rival Andy Hunter on the same night Dennis' illegitimate father, Den Watts, was murdered by his estranged wife Chrissie Watts; arranging for his enemy Peggy Mitchell to get mugged for exposing his past crimes; and attempting to have Peggy's two criminal sons, Phil Mitchell and Grant Mitchell, eliminated for trying to bring him to justice on behalf of Dennis' grieving widow Sharon Watts that ultimately led to Danny's death prior to Johnny's eventual arrest.

During their imprisonment together, Cahill bonded with Johnny and they became criminal associates due to their respective gangland connections. Cahill even offered Johnny some "help" should he require somebody to be elimianted, to which Johnny gratefully complimented him for in the end. Soon enough, Cahill's reading routine was interrupted when Johnny came into their cell and shouted "I want him dead". Johnny then left the room to make a phone call and Cahill followed him to the phone, where Johnny suddenly suffered a heart attack in front of him. Cahill rushed to Johnny's aid as the latter kept on saying "I want him dead", to which Cahill then asked who he wanted dead; Johnny replied "Jake.... kill him for me" before falling unconscious.

Later on, Cahill watched as Johnny was taken to hospital. Johnny told Cahill before leaving "Kill him, Jake Moon. It quickly turned out that Jake was Danny's estranged brother who also worked for Johnny prior to this point, and that Johnny wanted Jake to kill his business partner Sean Slater to stop him from exploiting Johnny's daughter Ruby Allen in a fake relationship. However, Cahill misinterpeted Johnny's words to believe that he wanted Jake dead and so arranged for this to happen; Jake's fate is left unknown whereas Johnny later died of his heart attack, which probably made Cahill unhappy about due to his friendship with Johnny.

However, Cahill's faliure to kill Sean on Johnny's behalf meant that the local Slater Family were safe - particularly Sean and his sister Stacey - from the potential wrath of gangland threats led by Cahill as per-orchestrated by Johnny himself.
