~ Cal and Lars trying to scam Tuco Salamanca's grandmother. |
Calvin "Cal" Lindholm and Laurentius "Lars" Lindholm are minor antagonists in the crime drama series Better Call Saul. They are skateboarders who make scams by pretending to be hit by cars while skating to get money from their victims.
They are respectively portrayed by Daniel Spenser Levine and Steven Levine, who are twin brothers in real life as well.
History[]
As Jimmy McGill is driving, he suddenly hits Cal with his car, who bounces off the windshield and lands on the pavement, pretending to have broken his leg. Lars has videotaped the incident and demands $500 from Jimmy, threatening to call the police if he does not pay them. Jimmy sees through the ruse and scolds them, asking how they will pay for his windshield, to which the brothers flee.
Later, Jimmy tracks down Cal and Lars at a skatepark and enlists them in a plan to scam Betsy Kettleman: one of the twins will be hit by Betsy's station wagon, after which Jimmy will talk the two out of suing her, in order to convince Betsy to hire his services as a lawyer.
The brothers successfully execute the plan, but the car drives off instead. They chase it, holding on to the back of a truck while skating. Defying Jimmy's instructions, they follow the car into a driveway, where an elderly woman exits the car. Despite knowing she is not Betsy, Cal and Lars decide to scam her anyway, following her into the house. The woman is soon revealed to be the grandmother of Tuco Salamanca, as Cal and Lars rant and insult Abuelita in front of him. As usual, the twins demand Tuco to pay them for Cal's supposed injury and threaten to call the police. Tuco effortlessly beats them unconscious with a cane and hogties them in the garage. Shortly after, Jimmy comes to Tuco's house and persuades him to release the twins. However, as Tuco is about to free them, the frightened twins reveal Jimmy's role in the scam to Tuco.
Tuco and his henchmen take Jimmy and the twins, all bound and gagged, to the desert. Tuco is convinced by Jimmy to let him go, but wants to kill the twins for the scam and insulting his Abuelita. When Jimmy insists they deserve a less severe punishment, Tuco suggests various brutal ways to punish them. Eventually, Jimmy convinces Tuco to not kill them, but break one leg on each of them instead, which Tuco does with help from his henchmen as Jimmy watches. Afterward, Jimmy drives the twins to the hospital and pays for their medical bills, though Lars calls him the "worst lawyer ever".
Blood is later found in Nacho Varga's van and suspected to be the Kettlemans', but Nacho reveals to Jimmy that the blood belongs to Cal and Lars.
