Cale Sylvan is the minor antagonist of The Mentalist TV-show. He is a hitman, who pretends to be a contractor. He was played by John Ales.

Biography[]

Cale Sylvan had been a hitman for a long time. He pretended to be a repairman, but seven people who hired him as a repairman mysteriously died. One day, he was hired to kill a court employee named Kelly Flower (which he did). The first check of his identity revealed his connection to the seven murders. However, Patrick could not prove anything. So he did something rash. He broke into Sylvan's house and double-checked everything, recklessly leaving his fingerprints. Then he asked Grace van Pelt to order Sylvan to kill Wayne Rigsby, with whom Grace broke up at the time. To prove that he was capable of murder, Sylvan held a knife to Grace's throat and showed a video of Kelly's murder. Sylvan was subsequently arrested and charged. But a mug with Patrick's fingerprints destroyed the charges. Then Patrick decided to find more evidence. A man was found tied up in Sylvan's house and a pile of bodies was found in his garden. This proved that Sylvan was indeed the killer. But Sylvan himself was killed before he could name his employer. The CBI suspected Hank and Annabelle Draber, a drug-dealing family. But the killer turned out to be Marc Odenthal, a colleague of Kelly's.
