	~ Caleb Milligan finally reveals his identity to his half-brother Cain Dingle and stepmother Kim Tate just as the pair have confronted him over his schemes against them.

Caleb Milligan is a fictional character and a major protagonist of the long-running ITV British soap opera Emmerdale. He debuted on December 25th 2022 and became the show's anti-hero in 2023 before later becoming one of the show's central protagonists from then onwards.

In his characterisation, Caleb is the half-brother of long time anti-hero Cain Dingle and Chas Dingle as well as the long-lost son of their late mother Faith Dingle. It is soon revealed that Caleb's father is Frank Tate as a result of the latter's fling with Faith in the past; henceforth Caleb is also the half-brother of both Frank's children Chris Tate and Zoe Tate along with their fellow half-siblings Liam Hammond and Jamie Tate altogether. It turned out that Caleb had kept this revelation secret in order to bankrupt Frank's wife Kim Tate and reclaim his birthright in the Tate family business.

Moreover, Caleb is the husband of Ruby Fox and the father of their son Nicky. It originally appeared that he was the father of Ruby's daughter Steph as well until it was later revealed that Steph's grandfather Anthony Fox, also his father-in-law and Ruby's estranged father, was actually her biological father too after sexually abusing and raping Ruby in the past.

He is portrayed by William Ash.

Biography

Background

Caleb Miligan was born on 30th April 1976 and was the product of a fling between Frank Tate and Faith Dingle, both of whom come from two families who have grown to resent each other over the years; the Tates and the Dingles.

In 1991, Caleb got acquainted with his half-brother Cain Dingle and the pair started doing criminal jobs together until the police caught up with them; Cain took the rap to spare Caleb from a prison sentence, but then afterwards they ceased contact with each other.

Emmerdale

Over three decades later on Christmas Day 2022, Caleb visits Cain in prison and confronts him over killing his adversary Al Chapman for sleeping with their half-sister Chas Dingle. It soon turns out that Cain's son, Kyle, is actually the one who killed Al months ago and that Cain is taking the rap for his son's involvement. Their relationship soon strained when Caleb uses them as pawns in his plan to exact revenge on Frank's former widow Kim Tate for causing his death in the past.

In 2024, Caleb creates further strain by crossing paths with Cain's estranged son Nate Robinson and having an affair with the latter's wife Tracy. This in turn prompts Cain and Nate to team up with Chas' son Aaron in stealing Caleb's vehicles as revenge. But then their differences are forgotten when Chas undergoes surgery from cancer, which she recovers from. Chas and Cain also make amends with Caleb despite the fact that he slept with their cousin Charity at one point. Caleb later crosses paths with his nephew Joe, whose later father Chris was also Kim's sworn archenemy and Cain's love rival-turned-nemesis in the past.

By then, Caleb has reconciled with his wife Ruby Fox and their son Nicky. It is then Ruby's estranged father Anthony and her daughter Steph also turn up in late 2024, much to Caleb's happiness as he was Steph's father at the time. But then he makes a horrific discovery in early 2025; Steph was never his biological daughter and that her grandfather, Anthony, was actually the biological father who had sexually abused Ruby and raped her in the past. Caleb later comforted Ruby over her ordeal and secretly acquired a handgun to plan revenge on Anthony for his horrific actions.

Following Anthony's death, Caleb settles down but this gets threatened when he discovers that Cain and Ruby had a one-night stand behind his back months ago. The brothers fallout again despite Cain supporting him over Ruby's abuse ordeal. Eventually Caleb and Ruby tell Steph the truth about everything and she forgives them. Caleb is later targeted by Joe over the latter's kidney faliure; Joe arranges for Caleb to be attacked and hospitalised before extracting one of his kidneys to save his life. Caleb survives the attack but is unable to remember anything and even bonds with Joe about it before reconciling with Cain once more.
