Biography[]
Past[]
Calhoun was recruited at some point by Markham to assist Ty in buying up properties in Harlan in order to turn them into weed farms. He is in charge of keeping a "blackmail ledger" containing details that could be used to blackmail Markham's enemies.
Justified[]
In "Cash Game", several legal documents belonging to Markham and Calhoun's blackmail ledger are stolen by Boyd Crowder, who extorts Calhoun by telling him to pay up if he wants his ledger back. He's interviewed on the theft of the documents by US marshal Raylan Givens, who later discovers the existence of the ledger and is filled in by Calhoun's prostitute Caprice.
In "The Trash And The Snake", Raylan and his partner Tim Gutterson interview Calhoun about the ledger again and discover that all the blackmailing targets are holders of land that Avery is planning to buy as part of his scheme.
In the next episode, "Sounding", Ty discovers that someone, either Boyd or Raylan, is interfering with Avery's plan and sends Seabass and Choo-Choo to interrogate Calhoun to see if he knows anything. When Calhoun denies he knows anything, Choo-Choo punches him in the head to make him talk, however Choo-Choo's strength combined with Calhoun's advanced age causes the blow to actually kill Calhoun.
Calhoun's body is shown in the next episode, "Alive Day", when Choo-Choo, Seabass and Ty discuss how to cover up the murder while in Calhoun's office. It's also revealed that Caprice was in the building and saw Choo-Choo and Seabass enter.
