Calixta Popoca is one of the minor supporting antagonists of the Mexican telenovela "Maria la del Barrio" ("Maria the one in the neighborhood"), broadcast by Televisa in 1995.
She is a vengeful evil witch who is the faithful squire of Soraya Montenegro and does everything she wants to make her happy.
She was portrayed by the late Sílvia Caos.
Biography[]
Calixta is Soraya's preceptor, who since her birth cares for her as if she were her own daughter. She is Soraya's accomplice in almost all of her wickedness, most to please her because she sincerely likes her.
But Soraya does not return the affection that Calixta gives her, quite the contrary, despises and humiliates her constantly. Soraya treats Calixta with disgust and contempt, though the tutor doesn't care much about it (or pretends not to) and still treats her like her daughter.
